LO 2 Challenges and barriers to effective communication
Challenges and barriers in communication create the problems for the organization. It increases the employee turnover and decreases
the efficiency of the employee, productivity and profitability of the organization. The common challenges and barriers in
communication are:
Perceptual barriers: The wrong perception of people about the safety of the resort in Sri Lanka decreases the moral of the
management team in making the decision of opening the resort and provide the safety measure to the customer.
Attitude barriers: some people are like to be live alone in their life and are introverted which create the improper
communication among the staff or unclear things. It creates the situation when people are not clearly defined what they want to
communicate.
Cultural barriers: In globalized world, different culture of people work together in organization. The different belief on the
people from different culture becomes the barriers in communication. To the different values and belief of people they are
uncomfortable in expressing their views in the decision-making process or organizational activities.
LO 3 Strategies for overcoming communication barriers
To overcome the communication barrier organization can follow the different strategies like:
Eliminating the difference in perception: The organization has to explain their proper planning about the opening of new
resort in Sri Lanka and the different measure to secure their resort from the terrorist attack will help to change the perception
of the staff and stakeholders.
Proper media selection: The support of the media help them to clear their views to the stakeholders and the staff. The media
help them to explain their planning and promote their idea through the mass communication.
Collect the relevant information: By collecting the proper information about the idea of opening the resort and safety
measure in the organization will help to provide the proof to the stakeholders and help them to connect with the project.
LO 6 Awareness of cultural influence on communication and negotiation
The culture of the organization influences the communication and negotiation in the organization through the different ways
like:
The different culture of the organization provides the different perspective about the idea of beach resort in Sri Lanka and give
their valuable suggestions and experience in conducting the safety measure and protect the resort from the terrorist attack.
Because of the different cultural values and belief of people they come with different ideas to negotiate with the organization
and suppliers. It will help them to get the win-win situation. It will help them to negotiate with the stakeholders and get ready
them to invest in the resort project and implement their idea of beach resort.
