Discussion
Communication barriers prevent the efficient flow of information among the employees and thus
hinders the operational activities of the organisation. The managers need to convey the proper
information to the employees which are only possible if the manager has proper knowledge
about the communication barriers and knows how to overcome them (Andersson, 2016). The
activities taking place in the organisation are greatly affected by the internal and external
challenges being faced by the employees. Internal barriers in communication process increase
workplace conflicts and affect the decision-making process. External barriers prevent proper
communication of the managers with external shareholders. It is the task of the manager to
manage the external and internal barriers for having a proper interaction with the internal
employees, stakeholders and external stakeholders of the organisation (Mortimer & Laurie,
2017). The internal process of organisation is affected by the bad communication which affects
the production management, strategic development and supply management affecting the
product and services of the organisation in the market. For the purpose of maintaining proper
communication at the workplace, the management needs to provide training in communication
and interactions among each other. Effective internal and external communication helps in
preventing workplace conflicts and achieving organisational goals and objectives (Ravazzani,
2016). Along with maintaining effective communication at the workplace, studying individual’s
behaviour is also very necessary. Every organisation should focus on developing a conceptual
model to understand individual behaviour in the workplace. Positive and negative behaviour of
any individual has a great effect on the achievement of organisational goals and objectives.
Individual’s reaction at the workplace determines how they react and handle any stressful
situation, what type of behaviour they show towards other employees. Negative behaviour
hinders the achievement of organisational objectives and increases workplace conflicts; thus, the
manager should focus on maintaining positive behaviour of every individual working in the
organisation (Zhong, 2017). Change taking place in the communication issues have a great
impact on the framework and policies of the business. Changes in communication create a
challenging situation for management. Change in communication style affects the relationships
among the employees along with public relations. Organisational culture is also affected leading
to conflicts at the workplace. The manager needs to establish effective communication at the
