OVERCOMING BARRIERS TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION - STRATEGIES
Introduction
Strategies to effective communication are a blueprint
through which barriers causing destruction in the free
flow of information can be avoided (Fuchshuber and
Greif, 2022). Several strategies are there that could be
resorted to anytime like communicating with students in
a university or school, colleagues in the organization,
etc.
Effective communication strategies
There are several strategies commonly adopted for
effective communication, such as:
Be cautious of message’s language, content & tone:
Information that the teacher communicate should be
clearly & beautifully framed. Also, the tone with which
it is communicated should not leads to hurting of
student’s emotions and thus must be appropriate as per
the situation.
Communication must be in alignment with
receiver’s requirement: Teachers must be cautious
in avoiding information of distractive nature. Such
information should never be passed while the online
session is going on because it may cause diversion
from key subject matter.
Mode of Communication should be appropriate:
University must ensure that their students have
accessibility towards better gadgets and tools for
effective distant communication. Accordingly,
quality of communication with all the students can
be kept consistent.
Ensure appropriateness of feedback: It is
necessary on the part of teacher to make use of
appropriate method while taking student’s feedback.
