INTRODUCTION
Spectrum resorts is planning to open a new resort in Srilanka. It has been
analysed from the case study the place was attacked by the terrorists on who has
targeted luxury hotels and resorts in Colombo. Poster will highlight common
challenges and barriers for effective communication. It will develop strategies
for overcoming the barriers of communication. It will also influence awareness
of cultural influences on communication and negotiation.
Clarity- It is very essential for Spectrum hotel and resorts to
remove communication barrier; they need to have clarity in
their objectives. So that they will be easily able to make their
employees understand about the goals of company. This will
also enhance communication between them.
Receiving feedback- As Spectrum hotel and resorts is
expanding their business in Srilanka, they also need to have
feedback from their audience as well as their employees. This
will help them in analysing the problems which is being faced
by their employees while communicating. It will build up
strong relationship between the organization and workers.
Consistency- While communicating the staff members of
spectrum resorts needs to be consistent, they should take care
that the message transfer is not being changed.

Common challenges and barriers for effective communication
There are various kinds of barriers that can appear within the Spectrum resorts, it
includes the following:
Cultural Diversity- As the hospitality industry is opening its beach resorts at a
new place which is Srilanka, they will recruit people of different culture which
can act as barrier to communication. Dressing, Religions or lack of them, food,
drinks, pets, and the general behaviour will change drastically from one culture
to another.
Language- Spectrum hotel and resorts is going to recruit people who live in
Srilanka so language can be one of the most drastic barrier that they can face. So
company has to lay emphasis on it.
Perception barriers- Different people have different perception, so
communication can be hampered because of it. As spectrum hotel and resort is
dealing at a new place so they need to have proper understanding of perception
of employees working with them.
