INTRODUCTION
Communication and collaboration plays a crucial role in an organisation because communication
helps in sharing or exchanging information (Schoeppner, 2021). Collaboration is working
together towards achieving a common goal and objective. It is important to have proper
communication between leaders, policy makers, employees within an organisation so that targets
can be accomplished. It is essential to have proper communication and collaboration within an
organisation so that work can be done properly. The report examines, Gibbs reflective cycle and
focus on relevance of communication and collaboration in organisation.
MAIN BODY
Gibbs Reflective Cycle
Using Gibbs Reflective cycle, I will explain ways in which this module has helped me in
enhancing my communication and collaborative working skills and has further helped me in
enhancing my existing skills in an appropriate manner and different Theories and methods of
communication and collaboration.
Description: during this module I have understood Relevance of communication and
collaboration. This module has helped me in understanding that communication plays a crucial
role in an organisation. It is one of the most important way through which interaction between
leaders, policy makers and employees in an organisation as it builds employee morale,
satisfaction and engagement. When employees are interacting properly with each other then it
reduces chances of confusion or misunderstanding (Sethuraman and et.al., 2021). First week of
this module directly helped me in understanding that there are many different kinds of principles,
theories and methods of communication and collaboration that can be used within an
organization. leaders, policy makers can help employees in identifying ways in which work and
focus on achieving goals and objectives of company. Communication helps employees
understand terms and conditions of their employment and focuses on accomplishing targets. It is
essential to make proper structure so that members can communicate properly and focus on
completing work within given time. For example: when an employee joins an organization;
orientation helps them in clarifying policies, procedure of organization and if any kind of
confusion employee has then it can be clarified easily.
During first week of module, I was also be able to learn and understand that importance
of collaboration and ways in which collaboration can help in bringing improvement within

and communicate their ideas. This helps in saving time and reduce chances of errors. It is
important to work efficiently so that goals can be accomplished and it reduces confusion or
misunderstanding. Collaboration allows employees to learn from each other, overall problem
solving becomes easier, increases team efficiency and productivity of members.
Feelings: Before this module, I did not have any idea about different roles within an
organization and ways in which communication style of all the three differs and ways in which
collaboration among all the three take place. During first week of module, I was able to
understand that three main different types of roles within an organization are of manager, leader
and entrepreneurs. Each of them have their own communication method and collaboration style.
During week two of this module I was able to learn and understand that there are various
methods of communication Some of those methods are used for inside communication and some
of them are used for outside communication. There are different methods of communication
which can be applied within an organisation so that work can be completed on time and there
should be no confusion (Goll, 2017). Methods of communication are, verbal, non- verbal,
written, visual and listening. These are some methods which help in communication and this can
be used by an organisation to avoid confusion or misunderstanding. Verbal communication
means to interact with each other by speaking and make better plans which is beneficial for
success of company. Non- verbal communication means to interact by using signs and body
language. It is essential to have proper communication within an organisation so that goals and
objectives can be accomplished (Cairney and Kwiatkowski, 2017). There are different method of
communication which can be applied because it helps in achieving targets.
Evaluation: During this module one of the main thing that I have learnt was that in order to
communicate properly it is important to develop collaboration among group members. There are

method can help in recording correct message and information or not.

communication is occurring i.e., whether it argumentative, influence or persuasive. This is
because all the three types of communication take place in different situations or places and

2019). For example: during third week of my module we were asked to involve in a debate about
positive relationship among employer and employees with one of our module partners. My
influence communication style directly helped me in conveying my message and point of view
with my partner and convince them about the same whereas my partner had an aggressive
conflicting communication style but with the help of my verbal influence communication style
occurrence of conflict among us situation chances were reduced.
Conclusion: during three weeks of this module, I was able to understand importance of
communication and collaboration within an organization. It directly helped me in understanding
and learning different methods that can be used for communication and for collaborating with
each other. I have also learnt that a person should understand and learn different types of
communication, different ways of collaborating with each other. Not only this, I was able to

communication which is suitable for communicating with each other. Participation in different
activities held during these three weeks of this module helped me in understanding that I have
good communication skills. Due to this excellence in communication skills, I can easily adjust
myself in any situation and communicate with other. But these activities further helped me in
understanding that I do need to being improvement within my collaboration skills. It is one of the
main and key area of improvement in which I need to bring improvement.
Action: In order to bring improvement within my collaboration skills I will focus upon bringing
improvement within my team working skills as bringing improvement within by team working
skills will eventually bring improvement within collaboration skills. During this module we have
learnt about Belbin team role theory. This theory helped in understanding that there are nine
different types of roles that every team should have as it further helps in bringing improvement
within my collaboration skills.
CONCLUSION
From the above discussion it can be concluded that, communication and collaboration are
two most important things to be focused upon within organizations. There are many different
kinds of communication and collaboration methods that can be used leaders and policy makers
within organizations for communicating with employees. But before selecting an appropriate
method of communication it is important for leaders and policy members to understand type of
situation they are in, type of method of communication and collaboration that will be suitable in
that situation. Leaders and policy members can also focus upon evaluating different factors for
understanding which method would be situatable for communicating with others.
