Introduction
Communication and collaborative skills can be described as very vital skills from the perspective
of any organization belonging from different fields. Communications from the perspective of
different academic levels are very complicated aspects and it may take different forms. The
specific arena belonging from academics generally need communication at their personal and
professional aspects. It might be important from the aspect of students and it is also important
from the perspective of teachers. Communication is very important in order to articulate different
necessary information such as different concepts, ideas and many other things. Additionally,
communication is also important to resolve different confliction and it is also necessary for
conducting effective teamwork. The future of different students is mainly depended into the
academics and different interpersonal skills. This specific reflective blog will help to explain
different perspectives of personal skills and collaborative communication, which might represent
some advantage from the perspective of gaining some brief competitive advantage over the
years.
Shannon and Weaver communication model
Shannon and Weaver model of communication generally use six different aspects of
communication, which are sender, encoder, channel, decoder, receiver and noise.
Sender: In this communication model, sender is a person who creates different messages and
after that he chooses a channel to transmit the message.
Encoder: Encoder is also the sender of the message and they convert messages into binary codes
so that the machine can understand the language.
Channel: Channel is the medium though which the, message has been transmitted
Decoder: Decoder is the machine that decodes machine languages into actual messages. It also
converts different signals and binary data into prefabricated messages
Receiver: Receiver is the person who accepts the message and provides feedback in accordance
with the message.

Noise: It is a physical disturbance, which prevent messages from delivering properly. It consists
of people, environment and others.

Gibbs reflective cycle model
I can reflect any occurrence and incident through the help of a learning process and Gibbs
reflection cycle. Process of this cycle has been described below:
Description: The factual description of incidents has been described in this section.
Feelings: Feelings of an individual during the occurrence of different incidents has been
described here.
Evaluation: Evaluation of the incidents has been described in this section.
Analysis: The occurrence of different incidents has been evaluated in this section and how to
improve the downsides of those incidents has been described in this section.
Conclusion: Learning outcomes from the incidents has been evaluated in this section
Action plan: This specific area includes the plan of handling and improving the situation in next
times. Different actions, which can be taken into consideration for minimize the problems of
those situations has been evaluated in this section.

Discussion
I had previously worked for Marks and Spencer for some times. I have previously identified that
Marks and Spencer ahs some prefabricated gaps and problems at their entire communication
system. For this specific section, I have identified three different issues from my previous
workplace, which can be evaluated while using the diverse aspects of Gibbs Reflective Cycle at
certain extension (Pianpeng and Koraneekij, 2016). The incidents through which I had faced
different communication problem from the perspective of Marks and Spencer are lack of
communication standards, lack of direct communication and poor listening skills. I have
applied Gibbs reflective cycle in order to assess and solve those communication conflictions
from that workplace.
Lack of communication standards
Description: In my working days at Marks and Spencer, I had identified that there was a specific
lack into the different standards of their communication. The standard was very low into the
workplace, which creates diverse problems into that workplace (Dingemanse et al., 2015). Both
the employees and the managers did not maintain a prefabricate standard into their
communication.
Feelings: I felt very discouraged due to the lack of diverse communication standards. At the first
few days, I felt that I was my personal problem that I am unable to establish my own viewpoint,
although after some time I understand that it was the problem of that organization itself. I had
talked with other employees and some of them are pissed off due o the lack into communication
standards.
Evaluation: I had previously assessed that this particular problem into communication may
represent some form of problem in context of Marks and Spencer (McQuail and Windahl, 2015).
Due to the lack of communication standards, I and other employees like me were facing some
prefabricated problems regarding representing our personal preferences at certain extension.
Analysis: It has been observed by me at several instances that Marks and Spencer does not has
any communication standards and prefabricated policies into their different workplaces, which is
actually creating this specific communicating problem at certain extension (Czyzowicz et al.,

2016). Additionally, it is needed for the employees of Marks and Spencer to release the stress of
their communication standards at greater extension.
Conclusion: I have been learn from this specific situation that lack of communication standards
in between the employment base can variety lots of diverse problem from the perspective of any
organization like Marks and Spencer and greater extension (Larrañaga et al., 2016).
Additionally, it might decrease the level of employee satisfaction towards a much greater
extension since if people are unable to conduct communication in to their workplace; it is not
possible for them to that they failed to conduct their work in accordance with organizational
perspective.
Action plan: I had through previously regarding some procedures by which this specific problem
can be minimized. However, I cannot come up with a plan, which can only be applied by the
employees in order to maintain a standard into their communication (Pearson, 2016). However, I
think the bad effects of disgrace communication standards can be minimized if that organization
follows a prefabricated set of policies and regulations for maintaining standard into
communication at certain extension.
Lack of direct communication
Description: In my working time at Marks and Spencer, I have found that there is a very open
and diverse lack into their communication skill and the communication skill is not optimal at any
specific context (Craig, 2016). I had analyzed that employees belonging from that specific
company is not able to make any direct communication with their upper management people,
which has create some brief and prefabricated communication gap in between the workplace at
certain extension.
Feelings: I had personally felt that the upper management of that specific company is not
hearing my voice as an active and efficient employee of Marks and Spencer. It was continuously
driving me towards the lack of employee motivation at certain extension (Levinson, 2016). Other
employees belonging for from that same company are also feeling this from perspective of this
specific communication problem at a far grate extension.

Evaluation: Personally, I had felt that this lack of direct communication was bringing lots of
different communication problem from the perspective of that specific organization at certain
extension. The personal motivational level was decreasing at a continuous manner, which is the
biggest problem of that specific communication problem at certain extension.
Analysis: The management belonging form this specific organization did not put much effect
into making direct communication with their employment base. Thus, the management of that
specific organization at certain extension was not hearing the different problems of their
employment base.
Conclusion: I had learned from this specific problem that the employees belonging from any
organization cannot get much attention from their management base if they do not introduce a
system of direct communication with their entire employment base at certain extension.
Additionally, I can also conclude the fact that it is not possible to move up the motivation level
of employees if that organization does not a direct communication channel with their
employment base.
Action plan: In order to solve this problem, I can suggest a few things, which can be
implemented by the management of Marks and Spencer in order to solve this diverse problem.
The management of that organization need to make direct communication with their employment
base at a further extension.
Poor Listening skills
Description: In my working days, I had found that the management in addition with the
employees of that specific organization, Marks and Spencer did not have good and prefabricated
communication skills and they lack listening skills (Kuhn, 2016). I had identified that the
employees and the management always opted to describe their feelings through communication
and no one is actually ready to listen other’s perspectives.
Feelings: I had felt alone and very demoralized due to this specific situation at greater extension.
My advices regarding enhancing the profitability of that organization was also not listened by
anyone.

Evaluation: It is not possible for the employees of that organization to make god relationship
with each other if they fail to understand the different perspectives of each other.
Analysis: The management did not put much attention towards listen to the voice of their
employment base, which from my perspective is creating this problem.
Conclusion: I learn from this incident that it is not possible for any organization to grow further
if they fail at listening employee perspectives.
Action plan: I think that in order to solve this problem, organizations need to enhance their
listening power at greater extension. Additionally, employees need to listens the perspectives of
each other in order to make good employee relationship.
