5.1 Communication Skills
In order to function successfully in the team, an individual needs to be able to
communicate clearly on emotional and levels. Team leader plays a very important role in
motivating the team members and their thoughts towards the objectives and goals of the
organization and raise competitive advantage through action and innovative ideas proposed
by each individual in the team. Following are the qualities of effective communicators:
Expresses feeling a non-threatening but open way could let the leader to be able to
communicate to other team members dealing all the concerns and merge the goals of
the individual with the goals of the organization.
Better in explaining personal ideas is the another objective, which will inspire the
other members to bring their innovative ideas ahead and execute them for the benefits
of the organization (Gatautis and Vitkauskaite 2015).
Properly listen to others, helps in understanding the hidden objective behind the
innovative idea that a team member might introduce.
Ask questions about other’s emotion and decision, other great perceptive of the team
leader to listen about the mental condition other team members are facing in order to
promote trust in them.
React on activities and the interactions of the group members can help in merging all
the thoughts of each individual together and develop a new course of action in manner
to take the company towards its achievement. (Al-Weshah and Al-Zubi 2012).
5.2 Skills for a Healthy Group Climate
There should be a sense of cohesion in order to work together with the group, which
needs following skills:

Openness: Group members should be more willing to know each other, particularly
those who are with different background and interests. This will lead them to diverse
viewpoints, new ideas and more flexibility to accommodate with the variety individual
personalities. This will help them to listen to each other and elicit each idea (Raihani et al.
2016). New ideas rise with the interaction between different groups and listening to the
culture and practices that different groups are practicing. This will lead to express the
innovative ideas, which can be a boon for the organization.
Trust and self-disclosure: Trust among each other’s is very crucial for a group and
this could only be gained by disclosing themselves and being honest to each other. This will
help each individual in feeling free to express their feeling and conditions they are facing,
which could help in better team performance.
Support: In order to accomplish the achievement and the goals, group members
should support each other. The point of views about each other should not be like a
competitor rather it should be like collaborators (Walcroft and Taylor 2013). Each individual
should focus on the goals and achievements that the organization wants to accomplish in the
market.
Respect: Group members should not focus on “who is to blame” rather they should
focus on “What can be learnt” in order to respect themselves. Respecting each other will let
every individual to be felt like they are also contributing in the achievements of the company.
