1COMMUNICATION REPORT
The speech that was given by Geoff Purcell in the event was quite motivating. He
wanted to be a successful leader. His two daughters are important to him and this elevated his
speech. It showed another person that was inside him. His unconditional love towards his
daughters served as the biggest motivation in his work. The other thing that added to his
speech was the amount of work he did. He considered status to be as important as money.
Therefore he started working full time and he thought to work hard for attaining both status
and money (Cashman, 2017).
He spoke about his experience as a leader and he suggested ways to develop
leadership in the IT field. He described about his leadership journey in the event. He was a
diplomat initially. Later in the other company he played the role of delivery to transform the
business. Later he had to check the leverage technology to create the value of business.
However, from all these experiences this can be stated that he was not always a dynamic
leader. He wanted to be successful in whatever he set out to achieve. He always gave his cent
percent in order to achieve his goals. There was one thing that he always maintained that is if
there was a condition where he tried but could not e successful he acted generously and
sympathized. On the other hand when it happened that his team did not try and fail him never
forgives. He acts in an unforgiving manner. He intends to explore potential in people and he
makes effort to be recognized by his higher authorities for his work (Ayub, Manaf and
Hamzah, 2014).
This event gave the opportunity to learn about the ways of connecting with people. It
gave the view that team work was essential in any organization and the leader must have the
zeal to make his team perform well. The leader must set high standard for his team and he
himself must have high aim so that he can lead his team.
