2. Rationale:
Effective communication can be considered as verbal as well as non verbal body language which
transmits a message relying on the cues of feedback. Effective, clear and positive
communication is considered to be one of the most crucial parts of effective management.
Considering the fact that in this era of high competition between the organizations, project
managers are chiefly focusing on their communication style. The management of popular
organizations like Intel, Google and Microsoft are providing training to the leaders and project
manager to develop n effective communication skill in order to handle their project and manage
the same in an efficient way. Along with managers, communication skills of the employees have
become a crucial factor for the management of organizations to focus on. According to a good
number of studies, effective and positive communication between the employees and the
mangers possess the potential to reduce conflict situation during a project and enhance the
bonding between the project team (Hwang and Ng 2013). The chief focus of the paper is to
evaluate the impact of communication while managing project. The paper will evaluate the
impact of the communication skills of the team leader in a project team. Along with this the
study will also evaluate the impact of communication style and skill of the employees in the
team.
3. Literature review
According to Creasy and Anantatmula (2013), it is highly crucial for project managers to ensure
that the team members as well as the stakeholders are up to dated with what is expected from

them. That includes their roles, responsibilities as well as other time constraints that poses the
potential to stop them from completing task within the stipulated time. Effective
communication skill of the managers helps them to keep the stakeholders and team members
well informed of the details of the project as well as the process. According to Lee, Park and
Lee, (2015), effective communication between the team members as well as the managers
possess the potential to enhance the knowledge of the team members which n turn impose
positive impact on the productivity of the same. Regular communication also helps the latter to
understand the current condition of the project along with the difficulties faced by the team to
reach their target. Lee, Park and Lee (2015) focused on the importance of communication for
receiving require information while conducting a project. For relaying information, it is highly
crucial for project managers to have regular access to the information for a given project,
stakeholders may demand information of the project at any point of time that include the
objective, plan, risks, requirements of the consumers as well as time concentrate (Ahsan, Ho and
Khan 2013). Adherence to a specific system of regular as well as focused communication
possess the potential to prevent any kind of misunderstanding as well as delays that can result in
failure in the project.
Royle and Laing (2014) in their study have focused on the importance of communication plan in
order to ensure effective communication during conducting a project. It has been found out that
organizations that plan their communication before getting started with a project are more
successful in completing the project within the stipulated time. According to researchers project
managers need to prepare themselves for the potential challenges that may arrive while
conducting a project (Kumar 2019). For ensuring effective communication strategies throughout
the project as well as the team, a communication plan requires to be developed from the

beginning that is from the planning stage the communication plan will be comprised of types of
communication that is required for ensuring specific meetings, who needs to be communicated
with the frequency of the communication require as well as the requirement to be communicated.
4. Research question
The research question for this study will be “what are the impacts of effective communication in
a project?”
5. Objectives
The chief objectives of the study are as follows:
a. To understand the concept of communication in a project
b. To evaluate the importance of communication skills of project managers
c. To evaluate the importance of communication skills of team members who are involved
in a project
d. To identify the challenges as well as needs of a project for ensuring effective
communication
6. Scope
The scope of the research includes understanding the concept of communication in project
management as well as evaluating the importance of the same. The key factors that will influence
this study will include the challenges of ensuring effective communication in a project and the
requirements that an organization needs to ensure effective communication. While evaluating the
impact of communication in project, I will be able to understand the view point of project
managers about communication skills needed during handling a project. Along with this, the

view points of employees or team members along with the challenges faced by the team while
communicating during a tam project will also be evaluated (Silverman 2016). Along with this
effective strategies taken by leaders to ensure effective communication within the tem and
stakeholders will be analysed.
7. Research approach and strategy
The research approach that will be followed in this research includes the inductive
research approach. In an inductive research approach, a researcher initiates his or her study by
collecting data that are relevant to his or her topic of interest. No theories as well as hypothesis
applies in an inductive study at the beginning of the research and hence the researcher is free in
terms of altering the direction for the study after the commence of the research process.
Considering the fact that the research issue does not involve any pre assumption, hypothesises
and is exploratory, for this research, inductive research has been chosen to be the research
approach of this research (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015).
When it comes to research strategy or research philosophy, for this research, it will be
positivism. The positivism research philosophy is a term that is used for studies. According to
researchers, the positivism research philosophy coheres to the view that includes only fact based
knowledge which is gained with the help of observation is trustworthy. Considering the fact that
the result of this study will be based on the primary data collection, the research philosophy used
for this research will be positivism.
8. Data collection method
When it comes to the data collection method for this research, both primary as well as
secondary data will be collected. The term primary data is referred to the information that re

collected by the researchers directly from first hand sources for the purpose of conducting the
research. Unlike secondary data, primary data is not collected from already collected information
for another research paper or student. The chief sources of collecting primary data include
observation, mail as well as telephone surveys along with face-to-face interviews. Primary data
can be both qualitative and quantitative. Primary data can be both qualitative and quantitative
depending on the source of information. Considering the fact that for this study, the researcher
will conduct an interview for collecting primary data, the primary data collection method for this
research will be qualitative in nature (Ledford and Gast 2018). When it comes to secondary data,
it refers to the data that is collected by the researchers from already existing source of
information that has been collected by other researchers for the purpose of their studies. Like
primary data, secondary data can also be both qualitative and quantitative (McCusker and
Gunaydin2015). The qualitative data sources include newspapers, diaries, interviews, transcripts
and others. For this research academic literatures relevant to the research question will be
reviewed thus the secondary data collection method for this research paper will be qualitative in
nature.
9. Sampling procedure
When it comes to sampling, for primary data collection, three project managers from three of
the renowned organizations of Oman will be interviewed. A set of 10 questions will be prepared
hat will be relevant to the research issue. For secondary data collected, 10 literatures relevant to
the research issue will be reviewed.

For analysing the data obtained from this research, qualitative data analysis will be conducted in
order to gain an in depth knowledge of the impact of communication on project management.
Narrative analysis if the information gathered will be performed.
11. Ethical consideration
In order to ensure an ethical research, the researcher will provide recognition to each and every
author whose research paper will be used for the research. All the participants will be provided
with a consent form prior to involve them in the research. No participants will be pressured to
participate in the research an all of them can leave the research whenever they would want to.
