Communication can be defined as the process of transfer of
facts, feelings, ideas and emotions from one person to another
in an understandable way (What is Communication? 2019).
The following assignment will focus on the challenges and
barriers coming in front of communication, development of
strategies related to communication and will create awareness
of cultural influences on communication and negotiation.
Awareness of Cultural Influences on Communication and
Negotiation
Cultural differences create difference in the understanding in
between the two individuals. It is because of the difference in
expressions, languages, styles and many more. Due to this reason,
in order to communicate to the other people, it is important for
them to make the communication in the way which will make
them to understand the thing is the right way (Yaqoot, Diwan and
Kandpal, 2016).
Cross culture negotiations will be influenced by the extent that
negotiators in different cultures have fundamental agreement or
disagreement about whether the situation is distributive or
integrative. In this way, cultural differences impacts upon the
communication and negotiation process. So in order to remove the
cultural barriers the hotels in Sri Lanka could communicate as
much as possible to make them clear with what they have to do in
order to increase the security services of hotels.
Challenges and Barriers to Effective Communication
The following is the description of the challenges and barriers
being faced by companies which are discussed as under:
Challenges and Barriers: The main reason of ineffective
communication is the lack of planning which creates
confusion both in the team and leader (Fischer, Posegga and
Fischbach, 2016).
Due to confusion, changes in the work are made rapidly that
mixes up everything and employees are not able to think
about what they have to do. For example, wrong planning
could also impact upon the security services of the Hotel that
can cause harm to the lives of people.
Poor Audience Engagement: The low engagement of
audience is also barrier to effective communication. It is
because due to low engagement the audience is not clear that
what they have to do in order to complete the given task and
this causes deviations in the work and results are not up to the
mark (Holliday, 2018). For example, if the employees are not
engaged properly so this will impact upon the security services
of the company as the employees will not get what they have to
do.
Measures to Overcome Barriers to Communication
Below is the description of the ways with the help of
which the barriers in communication could be overcome:
Have Clarity in Your Thoughts: It will help in making the
team to understand the right thing in the right way which will
provide them with the directions to move. With the help of
having clear thoughts, the employees will be able to arrange the
thoughts clearly and then communicate accordingly (O’Keeffe,
Gilmour and Simpson, 2016). For example, by expressing
clearly the employees will get the clarity about their duties and
responsibilities so that they could work efficiently.
Understanding the Needs of Audience: Another way to make
improvement in the communication process is with the help of
understanding about the needs of the audience that what they
really want and in what way they will be able to understand the
things in the best way and bring positive results from the work
(Welfens, Nordmann and Seibt, 2016). The managers of hotels
in Sri Lanka could also understand the needs of the audience
about the best way to convey the information which could
make strong the security services of the company.
Looking upon the terrorist activities, the newly made Hotels
and Resorts are equipped with high technology of security
services. The first and foremost preference of these Hotels are
on the safety and security of customers of the resort. The Hotel
have high security cameras and highly skilled and talented staff
that focuses on the overall activities running in the hotel
Premises and also outside the boundary of the Hotel Premises.
It has been done looking upon the safety and security of

Introduction
From the above assignment, it has been concluded that
communication is very essential in order to make the completion of
different tasks accomplished in the organisation in a successful
way. Additionally, it is also concluded that the organisation should
also focus on the ways with the help of which the companies could
remove the barriers in communication and make the working in an
effective and efficient manner.
