LITERATURE REVIEW
As per the views of Castro (2016) communication refers to as a means of sending and
receiving information. Effective communication plays a crucial role for healthcare professional
through which they can provide great care to the patient and improving the patient satisfaction
level. They are expected to speak with the patients which determine their needs and also solve
their issues related to health in better manner. There are various process of communication for
gaining attention of people such as message, channels, encoding, decoding, etc. It is required for
healthcare professional is to make feel comfortable with obesity adults while communicating
with them. This will help them in motivated and encouraged towards dealing with any type of
people. In medical practices, healthcare professionals are dealing with difficult patients on daily
basis who are demotivated with their obesity (Batalden and et. al., 2015). They are communicate
with them regarding their issue which are faced by them while interacting with others at
workplace, public area and so more. This is important for healthcare professionals is to known
the actual problem of their patient otherwise they does not solve it. Communication is essential
for healthcare professionals because through this they are interact with their patients who are
suffer from obesity disease that directly affect on their confidence level. There are various
categorised people who are come with wide range of different personalities, cultural, background
and current emotional state.
Communication skill is required for healthcare professionals to sooth them and calm
them down and let them at ease and open for effective communication. The influence of
communication skills is helpful in acquiring faith and trust among both healthcare providers and
adult who suffered from obesity. It is the main role of them is to develop friendly environment
where they can easily share their issue (Castro and et. al., 2016). There are various techniques of
communication which are useful for health care professionals such as listening, feedback,
attention, stress management, etc. These are various issues occurs among adults due to obesity
such lack of confidence, unclear about facts, different understanding level, use of body language,
not listening properly and dishonesty about work. The main reason which have been seen of
patients complaints within different international healthcare system due to poor communication
between healthcare professionals and their patients.

As per the views of Batalden (2015) there are major influence of communication skills
and techniques on outcomes for service users in health or social care service. The total outcomes
depend on the patient’s satisfaction level. A great communication increases the rate of
satisfaction in patients and length of the healthcare visits increases.
Communication is the two way procedure which includes both verbal and non verbal
elements. Most of the time, healthcare professionals are use verbal communication which make
interaction between a health care professionals and patients which directly influence by feelings
and opinions by both parties (Webber and et. al., 2015). The surroundings and environment
where communication has been taken place can improve patients outcome, patients and
physician satisfaction.

effective communication. The doctors are engage with their patients in conversation for evaluate
their medical history, illness experience and develop treatment recommendations. Such

professionals who are motivate adults is to feel free from their obesity (Togher and et. al., 2015).
In current time period, obesity is the growing health issue and it is recognised as a disease and
health problem by various healthcare sectors. There are various ways of treatment of obesity
which are suggest by healthcare doctors such as healthy eating, being physically active and make
changes in eating habits. If any person have extreme obesity and related health problems so their
doctors are consider them Bariatric surgery.
Along with this, the practice of good communication skills in the medical profession is
important for development of trust and faith among both patient and healthcare professionals.
The main capability and ability of doctor is to enhancement in better understanding of adult
obesity patients problems and issue which are faced by them. According to the article of A

obesity when they interact with other people at their workplace and college. It is required for
healthcare professionals is to analyse their patient behaviour and attitude towards treatment
whether he/she is happy with the treatment or not. In this, adult obesity is create difficulty for
them in which they does not sit properly, walk properly and so more. Some of the adults are feel
depressed with their obesity or overweighted condition and they are share such issue with their

communicate effectively with them and reduce their stress level and identify their issues for
resolve effectively.
The studies over communication skills between health care professional and adult obesity
are reliable and valid as the discussion outlined different aspects of interaction that is doctor-
patient relationship, recognition of patient’s knowledge, therapeutic alliance and so more. Patient
participation in health care decisions is a sign of valuing humanity and individuality of the
patient which is attained by effective communication. The importance of this topic is to analyse
the communication skill which is helpful in gaining trust and faith of the patients. This is
required for healthcare professionals is to make reliable and valid decision as per adult obesity
treatment. For this study, it can be analysed that healthcare professionals main role is to motivate
and encourage their patients for effective interacting with them. The above description concluded
that, influence of communication skills is helpful in acquiring faith and trust among both
healthcare providers and adult who suffered from obesity.
