INTRODUCTION
The implications of Brexit over EU is the major point of discussion for the UK economy.
For some people adoption of Brexit is good then for others it is not acceptable. However, this
report is based on the case study which will depict the impact of Brexit on the organization and
the construction sector of UK economy. This document will examine the actual position of
construction sector of UK and also investigate the pitfalls. Besides this, it is going to explain
certain recommendations for this stated sector.
Skills, not Brexit, the main threat to construction industry
The major threat of UK construction industry is not the the implementation of the Brexit
over European union but lack of skilled professionals. Beside this, as per the view of different
experts, Brexit is the major issue in UK which is being analysed by the rail and construction
department. On contrary to this, the managing director argued that due to inappropriate current
skills the future productivity of this sector may get hampered. However, this is ignored because
citizens of UK are not ready to accept Brexit. As per the evaluation it can be stated that lack of
skills are the major issue in UK construction sector. In context to this, it can also be stated that
the construction industry of UK has generated good revenues when it was a part of EU. At the
time of EU policies, the stated sector has got large number of workers but with lower skills. As a
result, it is seen that this sector do not have good skilled professionals who can work at
managerial level. However, for the success of this sector it is important to have qualified people.
It is also identified that, the UK construction industry has minimal civil engineers. Therefore, it
can be explained that Brexit is not the major reason of lowering position of this sector but the
3

talent. It is believed that, construction sector of UK is required to hire women candidates for the
attainment of the demand of this sector (KAUR, 2016).
In context to above, this sector needs to have young talent or women candidates so that
this sector can be improved. If timely measures are not taken then it will result in affecting the
productivity of this sector. Accepting construction projects and not accomplishing them on the
stated deadline will affect the image of this sector and the productivity as well. It is seen that, due
to less number of skilled employees in this sector leads to put the projects on hold. This is going
to affect the whole sector in an negative manner. Therefore, it has become crucial for the
government to take corrective measures in order to bring this sector back on track (McDonald,
Togher and Code, 2013).
Brexit and the impact on construction in the UK
As per the evaluation, it can be stated that there are certain implications of Brexit on the
construction sector of UK. There are certain downsides risk in the grown of this sector which are
stated further. Besides this, the Prime minister of UK has explained about the expected growth is
2.8% which has lower down form 3.4%. There are certain reason of downfall in this sector such
as the pace of growth in this sector is slow in 2017. In addition to this, the UK is out of EU
policies which has which has left a negative impact on the investors. However, the investors
wants to sure of their protection form the negative fall outs. It is assumed that, the UK economy
will be finally out of the EU policies till 2019. This will help this sector to raise investment in
UK economy and provide new opportunities to this sector. It is seen that, the construction
industry is based on the foreign labours. Whereas, EU is unable to recruit the efficient employees
from domestic market. In addition to this, tight rules and legislation with reference to migration
can result into lower down the construction activities in UK. Beside this, less skilled workers in
form EU has resulted in fall off the potential and skilled labours in UK (Jackson, 2014).
In context to above, this industry has to rely on the imports of raw material from outside
UK specially in Germany and Sweden. This has increased the cost of raw material and labour in
this industry. However, this economy is negotiating for trade deals which has no guarantee of the
success. For the same, the top authorities of this sector are taking permissions among the
housebuilders. This will help the UK economy to decrease the prices of housing. Besides this,
the European investment banks has also increased the rate of interest for the UK infrastructure
development. In addition to this, the UK economy also gathers funds from these banks with an
4

intention to invest in different areas. As per the authority of UK construction, this economy is the
second largest economy who get funds. Political instability is an another issue for the
infrastructure development of this economy. The future of UK economy is also based on its
economic conditions as it is on stable situation (Collis and Hussey, 2013).
Brexit also has a huge impact on the performance of the companies such as on their
taxation policies, process and time scales. The major impact of Brexit will be on the exports
because EU had wide range of links with the commercial sectors. For an instance, there are
different companies in UK who imports raw material form the outside suppliers. However, the
changing policies of Brexit can have a major impact on the imports. However, this can be said
the business are at risk due to Brexit policies. In terms of taxation, UK will be free from the VAT
directives as the government of UK will set certain flexibilities in terms of sales tax. This will
help the companies to release the tax burden form the organization. On contrary to this, the
organization of UK economy will have to manage the administrative burden. In terms of trade,
the UK economy has to renegotiate with the trade agreements. If the economy makes any trade
deals with EU then it has to deal with certain policies. In addition to this, the organizations will
be required to pass porting for the financial services that has been the advantage of the UK firms
(Camarinha-Matos, 2013).
CONCLUSION
From the above report, this can be concluded that communication is the most important
tool in order to exchange the important messages and information in the organization. With the
help email and letter, the information about the training and workshop is delivered to the
employees. This has resulted in pass on the requisite information to the organization with the
authentic source. On another side, Brexit has a major implication on the construction sector of
UK economy. There are certain advantages and disadvantages of this policy has been explained.
