There are different types of barriers that Business United that came across while carrying
out the online classes which has affected the experience of the students, details of which are
stated below.
Technical barriers: The major problem is the availability of poor internet connection
which is on the part of both teachers and students leading to missing out parts of the lessons
along with this, the version of laptop being used by the students often results into taking longer
time than before.
Emotional barriers: In the long sessions, students gets tired and bored because of the
lack of proper interaction with their peers and teachers (Kebritchi, Lipschuetz and Santiague,
2017). Also, students also feel demotivated as there is lack of one on one interaction and started
feeling isolated.
Physical barriers: This barrier is also crucial as looking at the screen for a long time and
in the same posture has resulted into increase in headache problem along with the back pain.
Noise barriers: In online teaching, there is a continuous problem of disturbance in the
lecture which results into constantly affecting the lectures (Adnan and Anwar, 2020). Along with
this, it also involves wasting lot of time in irrelevance things which consequently leads to losing
focus from the course work.
Cultural barriers: The online teaching is also affected by the cultural issue, as students
miss communication with their peers in their language and some have travelled to other places
just before the lock down and are feeling homesick. These factors have created barriers in
effective communication and learnings.
Strategies for overcoming the barriers
In order to overcome the technical barriers, the college can provide internet modems to
teachers and students so that they can have better internet connection also, learning materials can
be sent to the students before beginning of the class so that everyone can download it and
reducing burden on internet usage. The lectures can be divided into short sessions with breaks in
between so that students can relax. The teachers should ignore the disturbances and focus on
teaching. After the lecture, the students and teachers can have an interactive session where they
can communicate in their language feely which will help in making their mind relax.
