INTRODUCTION
Communication refers to the two-way process of interaction between two or more people in order to share their
ideas, thoughts and viewpoints. It leads to creation of understanding and respect between employees at workplace
which results in good working environment. This poster will demonstrate the communication barriers, strategies
to solve it and cultural awareness in the organization.
MR.FISHY RESTAURANT
Common challenges and barriers in effective communication
There are several barriers to effective communication in Fish and Chips Company due to difference between
cultural differences of employees. These communication barriers are such as -
Difference in Language – There are 20 employees working in the organization who are from different cultural
background which lead to difference between language and their interpretation. Wrong interpretation of another
language lead to creation of misunderstanding and conflict between employees in the company (Mittal, 2018).
Difference in interpretation of Signs and Gestures – Along with language, every cultures has their own sign
language and gestures. The differences between non-verbal communication lead to wrong interpretation of
common signs and it create to miscommunication between employees working under the common organization.

There are various strategies which must be adopted by Mr. Fishy who
is the manager of the Fish and Chips Company. These strategies are
such as -
Organization of Cultural Activities – Manager should know about 20
employees and their cultural background and accordingly organize
cultural activities and events so that everyone can understand the
value of other culture and respect it. It will lead to creation of respect,
trust and understanding between British and non British employees
who are working under the firm (Quintanilla and Wahl, 2018).
Implementation of Common Language Policy – Another strategy,
manager can adopt is that they can implement “ONE COMMON
LANGUAGE” policy in their organization so that employees can talk
in one language and accordingly interpret others' messages. It will
lead to creation of friendly nature between employees which results
in creation of good working environment.

Cultural Influences on Communication
Culture impacts the communication in many
ways. Due to cultural differences, there are differences
between communication style of every person who are
working together in the firm. In the condition of conflict
between employees, some employee will sort it out
peacefully while another will sort it out angrily. This is
happening because of their cultural differences.
Cultural Influences on Negotiation
Negotiation between two people who may
come from different cultural background can be
influences by their cultural values. Some culture value
states that negotiation is a way of building network
which is good for maintaining relationship with others.
While another cultural value states that negotiation is a
way of doing contract with others (Roberson, 2019).
CONCLUSION
From the above poster, it has been concluded that communication is very important part of the
organization. It helps in creating good working environment by creating understanding between
employees who are from different cultural backgrounds. There are various communication barriers
which lead to creation of miscommunication at work place.
