2COMMUNICATION FOR PROFESSION
Introduction
Communication is the way by which people interact with each other. In order to make the
working place more effective, especially in the nursing profession, it is very important for both
the nurses and the patients to communicate properly. Even in the person centered care, the
communication must be more effective, otherwise it will become difficult for the nurses to
diagnose the patient (Gluyas, 2015).
Discussion
There are different elements which make the communication more effective. The
different elements of communication for nursing and all other professions are described below:
Making personal connections with the patients- In order to provide the effective person
centered care, the nurse need to communicate properly with the patients otherwise the
patient will not describe in details about the different health issues that he person is
suffering from. The nurse have to show sympathy towards the patient in order to make
the patient feel comfortable on the hospital (Anderson et al., 2015). The nurses must
speak with the patients politely so that they feel comfortable and describe in details about
the diseases. The nurses must take care of the patients irrespective of the age, sex, race or
genders (Foronda, MacWilliams & McArthur, 2016).
Role of technology is nurse-patient communication – The health IT plays an important
role in the educating the patients. The patients are shown videos of health promotion
activities or the videos involving different health issues. The nurses can also describe in
detail about the different diseases and the consequences of the diseases (Williams, Ilten &
Bower, 2016).

Conclusion
The effective treatments of the patients are dependent on the effective communication in
between the nurses and the patients. In my settings I have seen that how important the effective
communication is in treating the patient. I have also seen that many of the nurses teach the
patients about different health issues or health promotion activities.
