1. What is the issue to be investigated in the research?
Over time, the rates of education have constantly been increasing. However, this is not
the same situation in Saudi Arabia. The communicative skills of the citizens in Saudi Arabia
seem too far behind. English language and other languages are highly neglected and
marginalised from the mainstream of education. This paper aims to analyze the different methods
that can be incorporated for improving the communication strategies for the high school students
special those who are disabled in Saudi Arabia.
2 Why it's important to investigate this issue/s?
The main objectives or importance for the investigation of this issue are as follows:
ď‚· To understand the educational conditional in the region of Saudi Arabia
ď‚· To determine the cultural and the social background that lies behind the low
communication skills
ď‚· To understand the exclusion of the women in comparison to the men from mainstream
education
Q3. What is this research expected to accomplish? (Aim /significance)
The significance of the research is to accomplish the different teaching methods or
strategies that will be beneficial in improving the communicational skills of high school disabled
students in the region of Saudi Arabia.

It is a big challenge to teach English as a foreign language. Despite having limited
utilization of English in Saudi Arabia, it is much needed for technological purposes. The
teaching of English in the regions of Saudi Arabia fortifies the foundation of English and even
lays the foundation of the specific English which can be used by the student in their future
regarding their engagement in their business, computers, health etc (Al-Nasser, 2015). However,
the poor use of English among the citizens of Saudi Arabia is mainly because of the traditional
methods that are being applied in teaching the language (Al-Seghayer 2014). The cultural and
the family background also tends to restrict the usage of the English language. In some schools,
the focus of teaching the English language is mainly upon sharp students. The teachers play a
very significant role in developing the usage of the English language among the people in Saudi
Arabia. The teachers must utilise the method of translation of grammar, bilingual approach,
audio-lingual approach, direct method or the approach based on the computer to teach the
English language (Mahboob & Elyas 2014). It lies totally on the teacher to teach the English
language effectively.
Teaching English in Saudi Arabia: Prospects and Challenges
The official language of Saudi Arabia is Arabic. Very little importance was given to the
English language and it is simply treated as a foreign language. The subject was introduced in
schools from class seven, where the students ignored the subject. However, since the language is
considered important in terms of science, commerce and business, this language is made
compulsory from class six to the university level (Al-Seghayer, 2014). The government is trying
hard to improve upon the communicative and the English language. They are trying hard to
develop a positive attitude of the students towards the English language. They are trying hard to
teach the students the linguistic competences that are required in various situations in life.

However, one of the basic challenge faced in teaching the English language is that students tend
to leave their education after they have completed the secondary education in which they learn to
converse. The curriculum of the English language is not properly developed. The teaching
materials and textbooks are conducted following the needs of the learners.
Q4. What are the research methods you are going to apply in this research?
Primary and Secondary sources of data are dependent on for the study. The primary
sources of information are collected through interview and surveys that are conducted. The
secondary sources of information involve all the information’s that are available in the online
platforms Both the primary and secondary information will be included in this study.
The analysis of the qualitative data will be conducted using a survey. For a
comprehensive understanding of the information, the data will be converted into numeric and
percentages which can later be transformed into figures of graphs and that of charts. To assess
the qualitative data, the thematic approach will be taken. The information or the data that is
being gathered will be written down connecting the various themes in relationship with the topic
of research.
Q5. What are the contributions of this research to the field of ESL teaching in general and
teaching English in the Saudi Arabian context specifically?
As a result of the research, the mistakes that are there in learning the communicative
language became well known. With the understanding of the needs of the language, the courses
can be designed accordingly. This research contributed to the conduction of NA of the teachers

in-service programs of teaching got implemented. Technology started getting used in the
classrooms for teaching the communicative language. However, the right usage of technology is
highly required. The research will surely enhance or improve the communicative language for
high school students in Saudi Arabia.
6. Limitations of the research
The frame of time is considered to the major limitation in the research. The availability of
resources is also one of the major limitations of the research. Availability of the resources is also
a major limitation of the study. Apart from this, there might be issues in gaining permission from
the interviewers.
However, appropriate planning is required before conducting any plan to avoid any
limitations.
