LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction
Communication skills are considered very crucial for both personal and professional
life. The simplest procedure of transferring data from a place to the target location is enabled
by the application of communication skills. Effective communication skills are the most
important skills for business. Communication skills enable the effective performance of
working together with all the functional teams for a common objective. Communication skills
enable the smooth functioning of operational and marketing projects in an organization.
However, Müller et al. (2018), depicted the challenges of associating effective
communication skills with the implementation strategy of the workplace.
Analysis
In the process of collaborating with the colleagues in a group assignment, it becomes
difficult to share views and opinions in the workplace setting. For the motive of
implementing strategies and processes for the group assignment, the practice of
communication is required. Communication in organization can be moulded into different
forms, including traditional communication, electronic communication and video
communication. According to Brink & Costigan (2015), with the growing state of
organizations, the implementation and maintenance of effective communication become
challenging and significant to achieve. In a research study conducted for understanding the
procedure involved in the implementation of communication practices, it has been observed
that the reason behind effective communication strategy is one-on-one communication. One-
on-one communication is usually accompanied by interactive media for connecting with team
members. As per the discussion of effective communication, workplaces practice healthy
organizational culture (Ritter et al., 2018).

According to DeVito (2019), communication skills reflect application on leading
capabilities of organization. In the absence of effective skills of communication, managers
and leaders will lack potentiality and credibility of executing the objectives and plan of action
in the organization. With the help of effective communication skills, managers develop the
ability to facilitate the role of problem solvers and decision taker in regards to a common
vision. In accordance with the discussion of Emerson & Berge (2018), it has been observed
that communication skills reflect the potential of handling a diverse team with different
cultural backgrounds. For instance, international or global business are inclined towards
effective communication skills as it helps in managing the differences in the organization.
According to Emerson & Berge (2018), managing differences of the diverse group will lead
to mutual understanding and collaborative approach of accepting communicated goals and
objectives.
According to Quintanilla & Wahl (2018), the capability of reflecting a collaborative
form of written and verbal aptitude will lead to the growth of organizational and individual
career. The implication of effective communication amongst employees and managers results
in the well-functioning of the operational process. As per Quintanilla & Wahl (2018), for the
purpose of gaining professional excellence, individuals must demonstrate the skills of a
communicator. However, excellence in the capability is not synonymous to communicating
messages effectively and/or signifying the competencies of communication. The excellence
with the skills of communication can only be reflected when it is recognized or being
regarded as the standard for effectiveness.
According to Lee et al. (2019), in the motive of implementing strategies and effective
policies in the organization, the communicated message or policy should be same as the
received message from managers or leaders to employees without the presence of distortions
or understanding biases. From the business perspective, Lee et al. (2019), described that
clarity should be the base for framing communication message as it allows the execution of

the plan of action in terms of stipulated time and budget. The individual who reflects the
capability of communicating reasoning, objectives and allocated tasks concisely and
coherently are the main contributors of businesses. According to Lee et al. (2019), the
communicators who are involved in associating logic and objective in tasks creates
benchmark or standards in the changing competitive business environment.
According to Lee et al. (2019), the implementation plan is also affected by the
different forms of communication relationships. Communication relationship differs with
situation and commination entities. Communication with customers will differ from the
communication with colleagues and managers. Moreover, communication strategy in
workplace majorly affects workplace relationships and the aspect of employee engagement.
With the changing business environment, the focus of organizational strategy is directing to
the basis of effective communication. The impact of technology in communication also plays
an important role in affecting the implementation strategy effectively (Emerson & Berge,
2018). Communicating implementation plan for change management or policy
standardization has become easier with the implication of technology in the workplace
(Emerson & Berge, 2018). The implementation strategies in the workplace are becoming
efficient due to the state of modern communication.
However, as per the depiction of Harmon et al. (2018), it has been deduced that
organizations are becoming prey of the state of miscommunication due to the implication of
technology in the complete functional process. As per the communication objectives of
executing strategies and plan efficiently, Samson, Donnet & Daft (2018), denoted various
strategies of incorporating effective communication plan. One of the strategies includes,
transparency. For enhancing the loyalty, involvement and positive contribution of employees
in the organization, managers should encourage the aspect of transparency in the organization
(Falola et al., 2018). Common corporate principles can contribute majorly to job satisfaction.
The efficiency and acceptance of employees towards policy change and implementation

strategy are availed by ensuring the strategized vision and through straightforward
communication. Communication of clear objectives and expectation for the employees can
lead to the standard quality of work. Another strategy for incorporating effective
communication skills involves active listening. Incorporating emotional intelligence in the
managerial and leadership approach can result in understandability of employee emotions. In
accordance with Donesky et al. (2019), all these strategies are crucial for developing a sense
of responsibility and acceptance amongst employees.
Conclusion
Therefore, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of communication skills can
incorporate an enhanced sense of acceptability and accountability in regards to organizational
changes. The competitive external forces and increasing concern of demoralization in the
organization portray challenges and concerns in the organization. Organizations that are
expanding operations globally should direct the focus on stimulating effective
communication for the purpose of implementing strategies and policies in diverse workforce
groups with varying degrees of understanding and efficiency.
