With the development of the technology, the method of human interaction and the
exchange of communication has changed drastically owing to the fact that the time and space
constraint have been overcome in order to make communication easier and faster with the help
of technology. This particular factor of the development of the technology for the purpose of the
facilitation of the communication and also for the purpose of the exchange of ideas and
experiences have been made possible because of the revolution brought about by the
development of the wireless communication technology, or the internet. The development of the
internet has brought about drastic changes in not only method of communication but has also
brought about changes in the global economy and the dynamics of personal relationships have
also undergone paradigmatic shifts and changes, thereby leading to an overall change in the way
in which human beings lead their lives. Thus it can be said that the creative possibilities that
which are being made available through the evolutionary technological advancements are also
transforming the method in which human beings communicate with each other and also represent
the ideas and experiences. This particular statement shall be adjudged on the basis of the sum
and substance of two chosen books titled ‘Lion : A Long Way Home’ by Saroo Brierly and ‘The
Matrix’ by Joshua Clover. The idea being conveyed in the books pertaining to the
communication and technology shall be related to the hypothetical statement chosen which says
that the creative possibilities that which are being made available through the evolutionary
technological advancements are also transforming the method in which human beings
communicate with each other and also represent the ideas and experiences.
In the book titled, ‘Lion : A Long Way Home’ by Saroo Brierly the real story of a boy
from India named Saroo has been narrated, dealing basically with the theme of detachment from
the biological family and the reunion with it after a period consisting of several years. The theme

of emotions is the centre piece of the text which was later developed into a film. The plot of the
film revolves around the life of a village boy named Saroo who indulged in odd jobs in his
village in India in order to support himself and his family, along with his cousin who
unfortunately passes away as a result of being run over by the train and that causes the beginning
of the adventure of the life of Saroo. A naïve little boy with no education and intelligence of his
own to deal with the harshness of the world, Saroo boards on a train that takes to him to the city
of Kolkata in the eastern part of India where he spent the temporary period of his stay on the
streets until he was adopted by an Australian couple. In Australia, Saroo is provided all the
facilities and amenities by his foster parents, and has a decent life like most other Australian
children. Saroo receives good education and has a vibrant social life. On one occasion during a
cultural event the taste of jalebi made him remember his village and his biological mother, when
he decided to look for his native place over Google Earth, a computer application that provides
GPS enabled images of places taken from aerial locations. Having found the location of his
village, Saroo decided to head towards his village and reconcile with his biological mother. The
element of technological development and the development of the internet technology being
helpful in overcoming the physical barriers of time and space is very much apparent from the
adventure of Saroo and his reconciliation with his biological mother. In the contemporary world
of today, the channels of communication has been developed to a great extent and with the
development of the social networking media such as facebook, whatsapp, instagram the methods
of communication with the near and dear ones have been made much easier and cheaper. Thus
this is reflective of the spirit of globalization that the world has become smaller and that has been
owing to the development of the channels of communication. Thus now it is possible for human

beings to connect to each other even if they are separated from each other by miles (Brierley and
Buttrose).
The book titled ‘The Matrix’ by Joshua Clover tends to show how there has been an
overlap between the digital world and the real life causing a replication of reality in the digital
world and the replication of the virtual world depicted in the digital world into the real life and
vice versa. Thus the central idea of the book is that with the advent and the advancement of tbe
technology the fine line between reality and the digital world has been obliterated highly thereby
causing the human beings too dependent on technology. This has a positive as well as a negative
connotation. The positive connotation being the facilitation of the human activities which are an
inseparable part of the day to day life and the negative impact being the losing of the touch from
reality and considering the virtual world as the only reality. For example, the game of blue whale
which had been claiming the lives of several youngsters to the challenges that the video game
posed to the youngsters, which can be attributed to the overuse of technology and the over
dependence on the virtual world and seeking the essence of reality in it (Clover).
Thus on the basis of the critical analysis of the two chosen texts it has been found out that
with the development of the technology, the method of human interaction and the exchange of
communication has changed drastically owing to the fact that the time and space constraint have
been overcome in order to make communication easier and faster with the help of technology
and also the creative possibilities that which are being made available through the evolutionary
technological advancements are also transforming the method in which human beings
communicate with each other and also represent the ideas and experiences.
