INTRODUCTION
Effective communication is very necessary in every place of work. Communication is a
two-way process of sharing information from one person to another. It refers an act of giving,
receiving and sharing message. It is very vital in an effective communication that communicators
speak clearly listen carefully and respect each other's opinions (Bolten, 2020). This report is
prepared with an aim to discuss the organisational communication theories, barriers that have
been placed while communicating about vaccination and relevant government strategies to
overcome such barriers in the communication.
TASK
Theories of organisational communication.
Organisational communication is meant by the channels and types of communication in
which organisations such as non-profit, corporations, government bodies engage, encompassing
both internal and external communication. Optimizing organisational communication can have
strong affect on the efficacy of the corporate body. It is complex in nature that there are different
moving pieces within the business, almost all of which need clear communication with a purpose
to increase the efficacy of said company. It is involved with both public facing communication
and communication that occurs within the workplace (Canavor, 2021). People who are well
trained and developed in an effective communication can work in the employee management and
training, marketing, human resources, media management, PR, pubic affairs and many more.
Theories of Organisational communication:
7's of Communication:
It involves a checklist that supports to enhance the professional communication skills and
boosts the chances that the content will be got in an exact way as it was intended. The
government should check that their message must involve the 7P's of effective communication:
Clear: The UK Government should create a message which is understandable by the
local people. It must not covered different ideas in single message.
Correct: It should be communicated in the correct language that can understood by the
local people (Dwyer and Hopwood, 2019). It should not involve any grammatical error
and spelling mistakes.

Complete: The message should be involved with relevant information about the
measures and guidelines about the Covid-19. It must cover all the relevant information so
that local people do not get confused or misinterpreted.
Concrete: The message should not involve any content that it creates misinterpretation
among general public. All the figures and facts should be well-defined.
Concise: The content must be precise and to the point. The UK government should avoid
lengthy phrases and try to communicate the subject matter in the concise way.
Consideration: It is important for the UK government to take into consideration the
mindset, opinions, background and knowledge of the local people about Covid-19. Courteous: It is important that UK government must take into account both the
viewpoints and feelings of the local people such that they content is positive and
concentrated at the people.
Formal Communication:
Formal communication can be meant by the flow of communication which is official and
done through predefined and proper channels and routes. It usually follows chain of command
and hierarchical structure. This structure is usually follows top-down approach where employees
are bound to obey the orders which are communicated from the top-level management. It is
timely effective and done in a systematic way.
Informal Communication:
It refers as a multi-dimensional communication. This type of communication moves
freely within the business and is not bound by the predefined channels of communication. It
usually denotes as the fastest way to communicate the message (Guffey and Loewy, 2021).
People in this communication, interact informally and personally and can talk about diverse
topics, often outside the work obligations and many more. It is often non as “grapevine
communication”. It begins with workers through social relations. It is often considered as
effective as employees can discuss work-related difficulties and issues.
Evaluate barriers of communication.
Regardless of the kinds of communication, oral, written, audio-visual, non-verbal,
effective communication is very vital otherwise individuals tends to lose the path and will face
risks and challenges. As mentioned in the Project 1, UK government tries to create awareness
related with Covid-19 among its citizens and want that every person must take necessary

precautions so that they will be protected from the disease. Underneath is the evaluation of
different communication barriers: Physical barriers: It is found that if the message is not conveyed effectively then the
citizen will not understand the consequences of the virus, also they will be not aware
about the test centres of the Covid-19. There is a chance that they will be not able to get
the exact address of vaccination centres and resulting vaccination will be remain
unattempted by the people (Klyukanov, 2020). Moreover, if the guidelines of
vaccination slot is not properly mentioned then it also result in improper way of
communication. Emotional barriers: It is one of big barriers that people always scared to try something
new. Vaccination for Covid-19 is also new in the world and many people thinks that it is
ineffective for their body or what if they get side effects and many more. It is a quite
general perception. Hence, people often ask their friends or relatives about the
experience of vaccination, and by listening their opinions individuals thinks that they
will fall sick. Information barrier: In the world, there are two sorts of vaccination has been found for
the virus, that are Covishield and Covaccine. It is very important to communicate the
message that people must take the same vaccine even at their second dose. If it misleads,
then it will be very dangerous to health of the people. Attitudinal barriers: It is also a difficulty that people do not accept changes very easily
as their perceptions and mindset is blocked and they cannot conceive beyond that.
People thinks that by taking natural therapies and medicines they can boost their immune
system so that they will not affected by the virus. They often thinks that by taking home
remedies for the Covid-19, they will not get any side affects.
Cultural barriers: In an effective communication, diversity is the major issue to
communicate something to the people (Varela, 2020). It involves gender, languages,
culture, religion and many more. In UK, people generally speaks in English language.
But sometimes, communication can be ineffective due to the differences in the
languages. The activity of labelling individuals can result in blocks of mind. Therefore,
the different culture involves different languages which might be a big challenge in the
effective communication.

Government strategies.
With the help of effective communication strategies, the UK government can convey
their message to its citizen so the pro-vaccination camp can be held with great results. The
discussion is as follows: Request and provide feedback: It is fundamental to understand and overcome the barrier
in communication and ask citizens to give feedbacks and reviews. By asking opinions
about the vaccination camp will help to rectify the mistakes and improve the results as
well. It supports to work on the things which are not effective and assist in identifying the
solutions to provide best services by the government. Use of appropriate languages: As mentioned earlier, in UK, English is the most used
language but still there are many people who are not familiar to English. So, in order to
mitigate the barriers in the communication, government should convey their message in
local languages as well or may use expressions which can be easily acknowledged by the
common man. It may include demonstrating the signs of social distancing, wearing masks
and many more.
Proper media selection: In effective communication, choosing the right channel of
communication is also vital. Information and messages must be conveyed in simple way,
most probably, government can use audio-visual method through citizens can listens and
sees both (Wang and Houser, 2019). Therefore, appropriate communicate strategies and
investing in upgraded technologies is quite effective for the pro-vaccination camp. The
UK government should create awareness about the red zone, orange zone and green zone
areas. Also, they can use platforms such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and
many more.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded that effective communication plays a very vital role in sharing
information. There are different barriers of communication identified in the report such as
cultural barrier, physical barrier, emotional barrier and many more. These barriers involved in
the communication can result in the losing value of message. UK government can use different
strategies to communicate the message of Covid-19 and its related aspects. These strategies can
be use of proper mode communication, languages and many more.
