INTRODUCTION
Business communication is the process in which the person shares the information
within and outside the organization which can be effective and beneficial for the company. It
is important part in a business as it delivers the clear and strong content to the customer and
people about their different services including customer services and branding areas. The
report will demonstrate the effectiveness of the business communication on a company
through some general theories and evaluate the barriers of the communication which will
help the employee to deliver the effective working (Vakulenko, Saher, and et.al., 2021). Along
with this, it will also perform the solutions or recommendation of the particular barriers of
business communication.

General theories of organizational communication
Formal and informal: The formal communication is defined as communication where the
professionalism is required by the individual person who provides the information and convey
the speech in official manner. It is a kind of official information sharing to the people the process
of communication is low. On other hand, the informal communication is known as casual sharing
of speech and information which is also an unofficial way. The informal way of communication
is not recorded and documented in written form and no system process and structure of this
communication is maintained.
Oral and written: The oral communication is the way where an individual person has to convey
their speech verbally or by spoken words orally. This communication is speedy and not proof can
be collected by the person immediately. Even, with the utilization of this oral communication the
speedy feedback can be given by the person on the spot. Alternatively, the written
communication is he way and process where it has to be printed or written on paper. This type of
communication helps the person by text and not essentially required to be performed and utilized
(Andreevna, 2021). This is also a slow kind of communication as writing takes time for
conveying the speech in oral manner. Also, it can be recorded and can create an evidence.
Internal and external: In general, the internal communication includes the information which is
obtained and delivered within the internal environment whereas the external communication
makes the individual to collect the information and convey them outside. The internal includes

the sources like emails, letters, videos and conferencing and such more which is mostly
happened in the organization between the colleagues and management. On another side, the
external communication includes the advertisements, service calls, surveys, social media post
and such more. both are equally important in the business field where the both communication is
required to be adopted by an individual for the betterment.
Max weber theory of bureaucracy: Many of the organization implements this kind is strategy
and model where the employee and management both can easily understand the areas of
communication in definite manner (Wooster, Bethishou, and et.al., 2021). In this theory, the
company management divides the task and function so that the stakeholders can understand their
role and responsibilities specifically.
Frederick Taylor theory: This theory has been able to motivate the employee if definite manner
which is also a kind of communication which make the people motivated. Making the employee
feel motivated help the organization to obtain the effective result and outcome.
Evaluating the barriers of communications which makes employees reluctant in terms of
returning to work
Communication barriers refers to those barriers that creates the ineffective interaction
among the employees and employers at their workplace. There are certain barriers that leads to
impact the desire of the employees in returning their workplace and those are:
Physical barriers- Physical barriers refers to those barriers that blocks the mobility. It
contributes in the less or no movement of the employees from their home to the workplace.
There are large number of employees who use public transport and vehicle in order to reach at
their workplace. Recently, the COVID has provided the drastic impact over the lives of the
people. Therefore, the employees focus on their safety first (Galli, 2019). As a result, there is a
threat has been created in the employees in terms of using the public transport for reaching the
workplace. Thus, this acting as a physical barrier for the employees.
Emotional barriers- Employees has consistently done work from home at the time of COVID. It
has been found from various studies that, many employees feels comfortable in their schedule
that has been made at the time of work from home. In returning to the workplace, the employees
feel that they are not productive enough at the workplace. Also, they feel that, they can be more
productive at home as there the threat related to the safety is less. Thus, the employees gets

confused and their emotions has been hit. As a result, the employees has no desire to get back to
work.
Organisational structure barriers- The employees are often unsure about the management at the
organization. The employees have a thought in relation of “No social distancing has been
maintained at the workplace”. This works as a communication barrier among the employees and
the organization. The workers have fear in relation of the type of organizational structure that has
been adopted in the company (Neill and Bowen, 2021). Often, this creates the less desire in order
to return to the workplace and making the effective interaction with the other members in the
organization.
Perceptual barriers- This refers to those barriers that has been developed internally in the mind
of the employees. For example: After the COVID, the vaccination has been made mandatory for
all the people. Many employees have selected not to get vaccinated while many employees are
highly conscious about vaccination. Thus, the vaccinated employees have the fear from the
employees who are not vaccinated at the workplace. On the other side, those employees who are
not vaccinated has the fear of facing discrimination at the workplace due to not getting
vaccinated. Hence, this works as a barrier and provide the impact over the mind of the employees
in terms of not going to the workplace.
Interpersonal barriers- As during the COVID all the employees has done their work from the
home. Therefore, the employees had a belief that they may lose their all the interpersonal skills
and it is difficult for them to deal with the colleagues in the organization (Redondo-Sama and
et.al., 2020). This works a barrier for the employees in returning to the workplace.
Recommendation
The physical barriers can be reduced by implementing some strategies and methods. People of
the company requires to communicate each candidate personally and make a face to face
collaboration which help them to communicate properly and can overcome the physical barrier.
The emotional barrier can be resolves and overcome by implementing the session of mediation
once in a week in the organization and office hours which will make the employee to stay fit
from emotional level and can be able to stay positive (Romeo, Pezanowski, and et.al., 2022). A
good mediation can also reduce the stress of the person and enable to feel and stay fresh. The
organization barrier can be overcome and resolved by create a listening culture and taking the
reviews from the people and changes regard to that will help the organization to create a better

and positive environment where employee will also feel satisfied and comfortable. Even, the
management also can encourage and motivate the employee by implementing and conducting the
motivational activities at the premises which enable them to feel valued. The Perceptual barriers
can be overcome by challenging the own assumptions and keeping the focus on the areas of work
and work to do the definite and challenging work. Also, can practice the positive body language
which will also express the confidence and interest in engaging with each other or at any topic.
Being honest and transparent is the best way to overcome the barrier from which an individual
person will respond accurately and stress less (Gutman, Lion, and et.al., 2022). The interpersonal
barriers can be overcome and reduced by the active listening. People at the management do not
listen to the employee conversation and speech actively which make them to feel unsatisfied as
their suggestion and obstacle are not solved. Always, make the employee to share their opinions
positively and always utilise the simple words and sentences where the employee can be ale to
understand the speech appropriately and definitely.
CONCLUSION
The report has concluded the importance of communication. It has included the different
areas and theories of communication where the individual can be able to understand the
effectiveness of organizational communication. It has also included the barriers of
communication from which the individual can obtain the different issue and obstacles in the
working place. At last, it has mentioned some recommendation which can help the people to
enhance their communication with effective manner.
