A) What is the organizations’ purpose?
Brampton West Mississauga Early years centre is a part of the larger Child Development
Resource Connection Peel (CDRCP) whose mission statement is to engage, connect and
empower the community through resources, information, learning services and opportunities
that promote the quality of family life. Brampton West Mississauga Early Years Centre provides
an EarlyON child and Family Centre which offers early learning programs for caregivers and
parents with children aged 6 years and below for free.
B) What programs, services, supports are offered?
The EarlyON program has registered Early Childhood Educators qualified to provide the
following;
 Free programs aimed at promoting interactions between parents and caregivers with
their children aged 6 years and below.
 A fun place where children’s emotional, social and learning development can be
supported by playing, exploring and reading.
 A place where play led by children is supported by honoring each child’s unique
interests and development.
 A place where families can connect with other families.
 Resources for loans on parenting, community information and resources and child
development.
 Free monthly consultations for parents or caregivers that are concerned about their
child’s speech or behavior and language development.
The center also has a PEP-Start Clinic where drop-ins at no fee for families with newborn
children with up to 5 years of age living in Peel. It offers parents an opportunity to consult with
professionals from community agencies dealing with any or all of the following;
 Toddler/Infant Development
 Preschool development
 Behavior and parenting
 Language and speech.
The centers also has Nipissing District Development Screen (NDDS) that is offered for free in
Ontario.

C) Who funds the organization?
The organization gets funds from the following donors;

 The Mikey Network
 PLASP Child Care Services
 Peter Gilgan Foundation
 Louise, kool & Galt
 Marion Ethel Kamm and Frederick John Kamm Charitable Trust

D) Which of the 14 social determinants of health do you think they are working on and why?
Of all the 14 social determinants the EarlyON program works on mainly on early childhood
development. This is because of all the services offered by the program for children aged 6
years and below. The programs are aimed at the children and their parents or caregiver thus
early childhood development is the core social determinant of health on which the program is
focusing on.
The other social determinant the program is working on is Health Services through PEP-Start
Clinic which offers parents an opportunity to consult with professionals from community
agencies dealing with any or all of the following;
 Toddler/Infant Development
 Preschool development
 Behavior and parenting
E) Demographics
According to the programs and services provided by the EarlyON center, the center focuses on
mainly children aged 6 years and below. According to gis.communityhubsontario the
percentage of children aged 4 years and below can be shown using the map below;

This gives a picture of the distribution of the children aged 6 years and below within the
Brampton area.
F) Research Questions
The following research questions will be useful when conducting the research;
1. How do the programs provided by the EarlyON center help promote parent or caregiver
interactions with their children?
2. Which are some of the fun activities children engage in to help them learn, explore and
develop?
3. How do you identity a child’s unique interest and how do ensure that each child is
treated according to their interests?
4. Are all the services and programs offered at the center free?
5. Where do you get your resources from?. Do you accept donations and volunteering?
6. How do you ensure parents or caregivers know their child’s progress?
G) Stakeholder questions
1. Who is the board of directors and what role do they play in the organisation.
2. Does the funders of the organisation have any inputs in day to day running of the organisation?
3. What is the role of the executive director in the organization?
4. What is the role of the manager in the organization?
5. How many number of paid staff exist in the organisation and what is their job distribution?
6. Does the organization accept volunteers and what is the normal procedure followed for a
person to volunteer in the organisation?

7. Does the participants of the different programs get a say in the operations of the organisation?
