 In UK there are various types of communities that live. The cultural of UK
is diversified as people of different caste, colour, language, etc exist within
community.
 LGBT communities are those that are define group of lesbian, gay, bisexual,
etc. they are being united by common culture and social movement. In
present times there is change in gay community.
 They are growing, ageing and is diverse.

and sharing similar characteristics and features.
 Types of community – there are various types of communities such as
action, practice, interest and circumstance.
Theories of community –
 Structural functionalism – it is school of thought by which relationship,
roles and norms constitute society for purpose and each on is indispensible
for it.
 Conflict theory- the theory state that society comes in state of conflict due
to lack of resources. Thus, it has to be maintained by power rather than
consensus.
 Symbolic interactionism- the theory develops from practical consideration
and allude people utilisation of linguistic phenomena to make changes.

HOW DOES THAT COMMUNITY
EXPERIENCE THESE CHANGES?
 It has been identified that gay people are experiencing changes after the
rights that is given by government to them. Also, their rights are being
protected by government.
 It has been stated that homosexual activity in UK is now considered as
legal. In addition, same sex marriage is being allowed by government. It is
done under sexual offences act 1967.
 The right to change gender and same sex adoption is legal in UK.

 The rights provided by UK government to gay community has brought
several changes in society. It has been analysed that gay people are getting
involved in all socio economic activities.
 Also, they are treated equally and is given support by government as well.
Besides that, the perception of society has changed as they have started
accepting gay people.

because of giving them equal rights and opportunities.
 It is found that there are certain opportunities the changes has created.

eliminated that provide equal chance for gay community to grab them.

 There has been changes that has occurred into gay community. But on
contrary certain changes are associated as well with that.
 The main challenge are norms and ethics that is followed by people. In
society homosexuality is not even considered as its part. The relationship
between gay community and other people are strong.

MAKE USE OF OPPORTUNITIES?
 Gay community address these challenges by using their right. They try to
get engage and interact in socio cultural activities and build relationship
with them.
 Along with that, they try to educate them about homosexuality and sexism.
This helps in changing their perception and attitude towards gay
community.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?
There are several alternatives as well that can be followed by gay community.
It will be useful for them to create awareness of homosexuality. They are
as below
 The community can use concept of multiculturalism and interculturalism.
With that it will enable in diversifying and growing in UK. Besides that,
gay people can protect their right and gain equal opportunity.

people to develop bond by other members of society. It will result in
creating a sense of common belonging and cultural similarity. In this way
diversity can be created.
