Part B: Reflective Evaluation
Introduction
Community engagement refers to the orientation that is community centered and is based upon
the dialogue. It is a contextualised process that enables an individual to understand the various
perceptions of the community and it helps in facilitating a strong relation among the community
members. Business organisations also work as a community and it is very important for the
management of the organisation to link together in a group so that they can achieve the
organisational goals and objectives together. This report is based on the evaluation of the
transferable skills and its need of adaption in order to fulfil the organisational situations. This
paper will discuss about the development of various skills such as communication skills, team
working skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skill and self management skill that I have adopted
while working in TESCO.

Analysis
Self management skill helps an employee to feel productive within the business organisation
(Boger et al., 2015). While working in TESCO I have developed my-self management skill that
helps me to adopt effective interaction with the other employees. I am able to make good as well
as quick decisions that help me to improve my time management. Self management skills need a
good as well as effective decision maker so that he or she can work through anything (Noe et al.,
2017). However I have become a problem solver by solving difficult tasks, problems and cases
of projects and examining them in order to inspect various solutions. I have developed myself
management skills by taking various initiatives and efforts to learn this skill. I took initiative to
work and help my team mates without being told so that made my team leaders and managers
happy and satisfied about my actions as well as my job performance. The self management skill
has made me organised so that I can work according to the plan that will help me to compete the
work on time. I developed the knowledge about certain specified tools and sources that will help
me for my task completion.
I have also developed the mentality to be prepared of various circumstances so that I can stand
upon my commitment and the expectations of my managers and team leaders. I have improved
myself so that I can stand accountable for my activities and can take a stand for my performance.
If I make any mistake I put an effort to make it right. With the help of self management I am able
to get self awareness that helped me know about my values, strengths weakness, likes, dislikes
and helps me to control my ability as well as my behaviour. It also increased my confidence of
problem solving as well as self motivation trough personal grooming and hygiene. I have
adopted a sense of positive thinking within me so that I can express any potential certainty as
well as the affirmation towards tough situations. It had also helped me to work together with the
people in order to accomplish our shared goals and improving my team work skills.
Communication skills helps an individual to understand others and is been understood by the
others (Griffin, 2017). Communication skill includes a vast learning about the ideas of
communicating to others (Solnet et al., 2016). I have adopted communication skill by actively
listening tit eh other’s messages and conversations and effectively providing feedbacks to them.

necessary for an individual to listen to other and talk or provide information in such a way that
others listen to you. Communication skills help to increase the ability to receive various kinds of
information. It has helped me gain the understanding of communicating properly through the
digital communications such as social media sae well as the emails, face to face interactions and
on phone calls. Earlier I was not so much into effective communication with others because I use
to get pissed off often trough often talk and if surrounded by the group of peoples.
However, my supervisors and Team Leaders while working in TESCO had helped me lot to
handle the situations calmly and to work effectively by communicating with others. They have
motivated as well as encouraged me a lot to inculcate effective communication so that I can
achieve my career goals and can also work effectively for achieving the organisational goals.
They have taught me that there are various types of communication styles that should be used
according to the situations. It helps the individual to take quick as well as effective decision for
providing appropriate feedbacks to others. It helped me to increase my confidence towards
socialising with other and working with my colleagues as well as the top level executives,
managers and Team leaders. While speaking it is very necessary to speak clearly so that it is
audible to the listeners. Speaking should not be loud so that others feel it disrespectful (Al-
Mahrooqi and Denman, 2016). While working in TESCO earlier I was unable to communicate
properly as I use to talk rudely with others. However with the help of my manager’s and team
members I have gained effective communication skill that made me to understand the emotions
of others.
Team working skills helps an individual to work and get the things done in a proper way with
other peoples (Belt, 2017). The employees who have strong teamwork skill help the other
teammates to collaborate properly with other team members. My managers and team leaders
played an important role to help me and guide me about inculcating the team work skills into
myself and working fairly with the team and in the team. I use to feel earlier when I joined
TESCO that this job is best suited for me if I use to independently do it. However after the
several work with my team members and ranging myself from various business services I am
now able to develop a sense to do a bulk of duties alone. It helped me to achieve wide ads well as
broader goals and also helped me for the accomplishment of my commitment to my team
members and to people of the organisation. Regardless of my job role, I was able to work with
others listen to you. Communication skills help to increase the ability to receive various kinds of

the other members and became a team player. Team work skill is all about the capability to
operate the tasks or projects smoothly as well as efficiently within a team or in a group
(Hanaysha, 2016).
This ability had encouraged me to adopt the negotiation skill and keep doing my work
irrespective of any bad feedbacks or bad comments I get within the organisation. I have gained
the knowledge to work effectively and efficiently so that my job performance can benefit the
organisation to achieve its goals and objectives. I now give emphasis upon my contribution that I
am giving towards my team goal so that my team reach its full potential. The team work skill
have helped me to gain the ability to ignore, compromise as well as to reduce ,my ego so that I
can work together with my team members. This has helped me to gain emotional intelligence
that helped me to understand the behaviour of my team members so that I can behave
accordingly. It helped me to gain various other skills such as influencing, advising and
interpreting skills that also helped me to make quick as well as effective decisions regarding any
issues within the team and my initiative to solve the team problem also made my team leaders
satisfied about my work.
Leadership skill is a very different skill that makes an individual knows about the way and
techniques to help its followers in various conditions and showing them the way to achieve goals
and objectives (Lussier, and Achua, 2015). While joining into the TECSO organisation I never
knew that I would be able to inculcate the leadership skill within myself however my team
leaders and managers showed me various ways to learn new things and while working I
inculcated values, ethics and morals within myself that helped me to gain knowledge about the
leadership skill. I am a honest person however never knew about integrating with others and
working accordingly. While working into the organisation I gained confidence about my work
that helped me to inspire and motivate others so that they can also do their or properly and

passionate about my commitment and also helped me to fulfil all the promises that I made into
the organisation. I worked according to my team leaders and managers expectation that helped
me to shine above the others.
