INTRODUCTION
Community engagement refers to that procedure by which organizations and community
collectively build ongoing and permanent connections for better outcomes and social benefits.
The present report is based on reflection on personal experience during interview in Asda
organization as store floor assistant. It explains the purpose and nature of reflective practice
along with at least one theoretical model of reflection (Johnston, 2017). This report clarifies,
reflection based on personal experience with in firm during interview and also explains things
learnt throughout activity. It justifies, relationship between suitable theory and experience and
key problems encountered during role play activities including one area of success and one area
for development.
PROJECT B
Purpose and nature of reflective practice along with Gibbs reflective cycle
Reflective practice is capability of show on one's activity to occupy in the procedure of
constant learning. Paying critical tending to applicable values and theories which inform daily
actions, by analysing practice reflexively and reflectively. The rationale for reflective practices is
that self experience can not needfully lead to learning; deliberate reflection on personal learning
and experience is important. Reflective practices is essential way in activity based professional
learnedness settings where individual learn from its own personal as well as professional
experiences, more than from formal learning. It is significance way of personal professional
development and improvement (Gould and Taylor, 2017). RP is essential tool to bring together
theory and actions through reflection individual is capable to label or see forms of thought and
theory within context of their performance. It is considered as the easy form of reflecting or
thinking about on what need to do. It is more closely related to the concept of learning from
experience, in that person think about what they did and decide from that what they would do
differently next time and what happened after it. Reflective practice is the method of assessing
own activity and thoughts, for purpose of learning and personal development. It is use for own
development and improvement and also used to help others professional and personal
development.
With the help of Gibbs reflective cycle, it is easy to understand and describe reflective
practices. It is one of the best model which has been created to guide reasoning about the actions.

Gibbs reflective cycle encourage people to think effectively and systematically about
experiences they had during the particular situation, activity or event (Pianpeng and Koraneekij,
2016). Here, it is used to define the experience during job interview as for shop floor assistant in
Asda company. This model starts at description and continues clockwise to evaluation, feeling,
conclusion, analysis and ends at action plan, then at last return to basic stage that is description.
Step 1- Description
This stage define event, activity or situation in depth, without providing any conclusions
appropriate away. The common questions that support create the objectives' statement is: what
did it happen, what happened, who were included etc. the important details must be noted in
description.

Step 2- Feelings
This stages is about emotions or feelings that action triggered and what person feels and
think during situation describe in phase 1. Intention is not discussed feelings in depth or
comment on it directly. Emotions does not need to be judged or evaluated, it only feels,
awareness is most significant goal of this stage (Potter, 2015). What person feel leading up to
event, what did they feel during specific situation, what did they feel after event, etc. questions is
helpful and often used to express feelings. This model is used in the respective setting and also
used in work setting as well as counselling.
Step 3- Evaluation
What is bad and good about experience? Make value judgements. In this phase, person
ask itself whether experience of event in step 1 was bad or good (Scaife, 2014). Which methods
worked great and in what manner, it will be difficult for person to be objective regarding
particular condition and which approach does not work well, all above questions is helpful for
evaluating experience. This phase also measure bad experiences, because consequent phase in
this model help person learn form it.
Step 4- Analysis
It is one of the fourth phase in Gibbs reflective cycle, it is all about what person have gain
and learned from particular condition, because of experience, they now know what need to be
done in the future, similar condition. This means that negative and positive issues person
experienced will be analysed and written down individually. Analysis of negative and positive
actions experienced by person it is often done together associated with step 3.
Step 5- Conclusion
It is the fifth phase, person take step back and look at itself from the distance and also ask
what another think they could have done in this condition, already defined in phase 1. Earlier
collect information is valuable in this phase and it encourages individual to come to useful and
good conclusion.
Step 6- Action plan
It is one of essential and last phase of this model, in which actions is developed for
similar future events, situations or activities. In conclusions phase, person makes concrete

promises to itself, intention is to keep promises (Toros and Medar, 2015). It each and everything
went well, person promise itself to act same way at next time or in future same situations.
Gibbs reflective cycle is used in various of ways, if person is open to actively changing
itself, this model is helpful for them.
Reflection on personal experience
Asda company is founded by Fred and Peter Asquith Sir Noel Stockdale and founded in
1949. Firm is the second biggest supermarket chain in Britain, they generate high profit margin
and has the highest market share. They have featured conspicuously in lists of the best
organizations to work for, appearing in second place in The times' newspaper. They provide staff
a discount of 10% on most products exceptions include stamps, gift cards, fuel and tobacco
related items. Organization provide better service to their workers which is quite beneficial and
useful for them and also help to retain talented people with firm for longer time period. Asda
play important role in CSR and contribute for economic growth. Firm is considered as top
performing supermarket in CRC energy efficiency scheme which is the mandatory carbon
emissions' reduction program.
Explanation of job role-
Performing as shop floor assistant in Asda company I need to provide better customer
services which help to make them happy and provide complete satisfaction while visiting in
shop. I need to assist shoppers to find products and goods they looking for (Farrell, 2016). Shop
floor assistant is responsible for overall activities and functions held within shop. Thus, it has
been discussed above company has good market image in context of working environment so I
decided to went to job interview for shop floor assistant which is quite advantageous for my
personal as well as professional career growth. I am playing a role as store floor assistant in
organization and accountable for many responsibilities related to my job role. My job role as
sales assistance in company is to help keep shop floor tidy and clean.
Reflection based on Personal experience-
When I went for interview in Asda as for store sales assistant job role, I have experienced
a lot during the whole procedure which is quite different. In interview, I was able to
communicate with other people effectively and personally experience how to managed time
efficiently for further activity. Interviewers asked many questions related to my qualifications
and additional activities which is quite simple, but I feel nervous for some time and after taking a

short break, I am back with full of confidence. Before going for interview I have made my
personal goal and gather information about organization that is one of the most important part.
Things has been learnt throughout interview-
I have been learnt different things throughout the activity that is useful and helpful in the
future, I learnt to keep calm and be confident for doing any work and completing given task. I
have been learnt how to managed my time, answer the questions and communicate with other
persons while interview process in Asda. I have been learnt how to create the outline to make
good notes that help to maintain certain focus in conversation with other person during
interview. I have also learnt throughout interview, how to answer open ended questions and
responding to each and every questions. Successful interview needed skills, advanced planning,
cunning and careful observation and last but not the least a lot of luck. I learned at time of my
interview in Asda is that need to be flexible. One person asked the fixed list of questions,
investigate about such things as how individuals influenced my work and my favourite
historians.
Reflection on relationship between experience and Gibbs reflective cycle
Gibbs reflective cycle define 6 stages of reflection on personal experience during specific
situation like went for interview in Asda organization. In description step, situations is
described in detailed. For interview, I decided to make some preparations and divide it
according to time. The interview is happened in Asda company and professional interviewers
take this interview. I have make all the preparations which is essential. Feelings is the second
phase of this model which is related to my personal experience during interview. Before I came
to interview I was quite happy and I had divided my work equally. When I realised that many
people came for similar activity I had felt nervous and after taking break I had felt more
confidence and give answers for all the questions asked by interviewers in company. During
interview there are many thoughts has been created in my mind which might be influence my
performance, but I did not react on it and managed overall activity effectively. Evaluation step
define my experience during interview might be good or bad, every thing is going well during
interview, I have learnt various things, like communication, time management etc. but on the
other side I have been evaluated the abilities that I need to better and worked on it for betterment
that is self management skill. In Analysis phase, where person have chance to make sense of
what happened. I think that each and every things is going well and I can communicate with

order to improve self management ability I need to take training and advice from my seniors. At
conclusion step, I need to make conclusion about what I have been learnt and what I need to
improve. Action plan, I had developed my self management skills that would be helpful in the
future.

During interview I had one successful skills that is communication which help me a lot
while interacting with interviewers. I had good communication skills that help me during
interview and support to get job in Asda. While discussing issues with management this ability
help me a lot, on the other side during discussion in interview about job roles I effectively
communicate and interact with interviewers.
Self management skills is one of the area which I had to developed and improve more,
self management ability help to feel and be more productive in company.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded, reflective practices help to reflect abilities and knowledge which
needs continuous development and learning. Gibbs reflective cycle define six stages of reflection
that help to express experience during interview procedure in Asda company. Experience while
interview has been expressed with the help of Gibbs model associated with 6 phases as it define
the relationship between both of them. Furthermore, it has been summarized communication
skills as one success area and self management ability as one area for development.
