INTRODUCTION
There have been enormous number of implications of various health issues in the
Horizon community. Although, there are various health issues that being faced by the people
within the horizon community but some well-known examples can be considered as obesity,
mental health issues, etc. The report is about discussing the role of registered nurse in providing
support to the people dealing with different health issues (Hayes, Lung and Howard, 2017). It is
because; there has been observed an enormous number of cases who are dealing with various
health issues because of which they have to face further complications. These issues can lead to
major complications as this can actually throw an impact on the mental ability of person. So,
involvement of various preventive measures with the help of a registered nurse in terms of
investigating, providing support and treatment etc. so that the people dealing with various health
issues so that they can be treated and get well in the city of horizon. Different important aspects
such as the demographic, psycho social and infrastructural profiles of the city of Horizon, South
Australia have also been included in the report. Investigating about some potential health issues
in the city of horizon and role of a registered nurse in supporting and in health promotion are
discussed in the report as well.
PART A: COMMUNITY ASSESSMENT
1. Demographic Profile
Demographic means the overall rate of the population and the specific groups with the
Horizon community. City of Horizon is also considered as a popular destination because it is
surrounded by Adelaide and Melbourne. Although, there have been a variety of services and
health care facilities to be provided to the patients in terms of physiotherapy, pathology, other
essential medical facilities, etc. The population density of the city of horizon is estimated as
15.36%. A total of 1557 ha geographical area has been observed. Ageing in females is analysed
at an increased rate when compared to that of men. Also, an increase in the age is considered as
one of the major reasons for maximization in the overall deaths. When compared with the
statistics of 2011, it has been seen that there is an increase in the elderly people and the ratio is
about 47%. Where the percentage of men is about 29, the same of the women has been analysed
as 33%. The overall population of the city of horizon in the year 2017 has been analysed as
30000 residents only (Hocking, Dear and Cowley, 2017). The climatic conditions of the city of

horizon has been well defined because this is also considered as an attractive plan to attract the
tourists. Also, it has lush green parks etc. within it making it more beautiful.
2. Psycho social profile
There are various opportunities available for the individuals living in the city of horizon
regarding the educational facilities and options. The government of Australia has initiated
various programs and initiatives by the means of which the children in the horizon city can be
able to get educated and also, can have quality in education. There has been developed a stronger
framework for providing education to the children. Also, the population is less enough, so this
can be termed as an easy procedure. About 40% of the people are facing in having employment,
so preventive measures can be involved in order to resolve the issue (Kendall, Wilson and
Whiteman, 2015). There is a huge availability of the social services and support in the city of
horizon and it is because the city focuses on meeting all the requirements and needs of the people
who are dealing with the issues. In the hospitals and health centres in the city of Horizon, they
ensure to provide the nurses a higher rate of practical and experimental learning so that they can
be able to provide a standard quality of treatment to the patients. The guidance is being provided
in a way that it can be termed as the highest quality learning in order to achieve all the goals and
targets of the health care by providing an efficient rate of treatment and services to the patients.
There are equal number of volunteer groups available in the city of horizon to provide help and
guidance.
3. Community Infrastructure, goods and services
City of horizon is said to be as one of the very presentable attractions that helps in
providing multi-cultural diversity range to the tourists. There are different types of attractions
included in the area including hotels, facilities for food etc. Also, there are an equal number of
accommodation facilities as well. Therefore, this can be considered an as effective and
appropriate option for providing satisfaction to the tourists. In terms of leisure activities and
recreation facilities, the city of Horizon can be termed effective enough that the customers there
can stay satisfied with the goods and services being provided. There are various number of food
outlets there that can provide a different variety of products and services to the people there.
Therefore, this can be termed as an effective spot for the tourists and for enjoying. Also, there are
proper health care facilities as well that can be termed as one of the effective opportunities for

the tourism there. A variety of recreational spots have been included in the city of horizon and
some well-known examples of this includes fishing, bike riding, sailing etc. So, it can be
considered that in terms of entertainment, food, businesses, travel and tourism, in every single
aspect, the infrastructure of the whole community along with the products and services has been
developed in a way that it seems efficient enough in providing every single facility and feature to
the same. There is a museum, cultural centres and library that has been implemented in the city
of horizons. So, these can also act as attractive options for the tourists as a means of recreation
etc. Therefore, this can be considered that the city of horizon involves every single factor that
can act as for recreational purposes.
4. Health services and resources
There are enormous number of services that are being provided in terms of providing an
efficiency in the health care system. Along with different tourism facilities, there are a variety of
facilities that can help in coping with the health care issues of the person. There is a tertiary level
hospital in the City of Horizon and it involves every single facility that is required and is
essential in the health care system. Some of the well-known examples of the facilities involve
physiotherapy, pharmacy, pathology, nutritionists etc. So, the involvement of some many
facilities in the health care means providing an efficiency in the care and treatment to the people

variety of departments involved in the hospital, so, there is a very less possibility that the people
in the city of horizon may undergo any issue regarding their health.
It means that there is an appropriate involvement of the facilities and services in the
health care system that can help in providing an efficient rate of treatment and support to the
ones who are dealing with such issues and troubles. There is also the involvement of a
nutritionist that can provide help in making the diet charts of the patients in a way so that all of
them can have a balanced diet, thus the population in the city of horizon can stay healthy as well
as happy. For providing guidance to the people also that are involved in the health care centres,
the higher and senior authorities are cooperative enough that they make sure to provide guidance
to the staff in a specialised and advanced way. So, an efficiency in the guidance and learning is
provided to the nurses and staff members in order to ensure that they can further be able enough
to provide standard and quality services to the people so that they can be able enough to promote

From the analysis been made, it has been evaluated that there are a variety of health
issues that are going within the city of horizon but some of the basic ones include mental health,
overweight etc. The one leading issue that is being faced by the horizon community is the issue
of overweight. It has been observed that there have been a variety of people who are facing the
issue of obesity and because of the problem of obesity, are now prone to further more
complications such as diabetes etc. This can be termed as a factor for causing other changes in
social factors as well such as bullying etc.
Therefore, it is very important to ensure that these throw a negative impact on the mental
ability as well. Therefore, proper preventive measures can be taken in order to control the issue
so that the people in the city of horizon can stay focused and maintained. Also, this will promote
to a happier and healthier environment there. Obesity is directly linked to the social determinants
of health. Also, this can be termed as an issue or topic of priority because there have been
enormous number of people in the city of horizon dealing with the issue of being overweight and
obese (Avsar, Ham and Tannous, 2017). There are various health risks that are associated with
the obesity and some examples include gout, higher blood pressure, heart attacks, cancers etc.
So, it is very important to control it in the initial stages only so that the person may not
have to face any further complication or issue such as heart attacks etc. This can also lead to
death etc. So, taking the issue on priority is very important so that the further issues can be
controlled. Stroke and heart diseases are classified as one of the basic risks associated with the
obesity. So, this also impacts on the lifestyle of the person. This can also throw an impact on the
mental well-being of the person. It is because sometimes due to the obesity, one may have to
face bullying as well. This is another dangerous aspect of obesity leading to major complications.
Although various initiatives have been developed by the government in order to control
such measures, but keeping a focus on the continuation of these can prove helpful enough in
eradicating the issue completely. Also, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet can help in staying
fit. Therefore, it is very important to consider these factors such as positive and healthy lifestyle,
a rich and balanced diet etc. so that obesity in the city of horizon can reduced to a huge extent,
thus leading and promoting a healthy and better lifestyle. Involvement of preventive measures
can help in a huge extent to exclude all the factors leading to the complexities and issues such as
obesity, bullying because of this etc.

PART C: ROLE OF A REGISTERED NURSE IN PROMOTING HEALTH
A registered nurse plays a very important role in the processing of the operations and
services. As for the people dealing with obesity in the city of horizon, the involvement of the
support and care of the registered nurse can actually prove helpful enough. Whether it is about
investigating the causes or providing medications to the patients, a registered nurse can perform
it efficiently. A registered nurse should be efficient enough that they involve appropriate
leadership qualities so that they can be able enough to manage the patients along with all the
processing of operations. Whether it is about educating the patients that what they should have in
a balanced diet, or involvement of various processes that can be involved by the patient such as
exercises etc. on a daily routine so that there can be some positive changes in the lifestyle of the
person so that they can be able to stay fit, happier and healthier (Atlantis, Kormas and Ding,
2018).
Also, a registered nurse is known for managing the medical records of all the patients so
that if in the future, any patient faces the same situation or any sort of complexity, in that case,
they can be able to check the previous medical records. Maintaining previous medical records is
very important it helps in analysing whether there are any such ingredients to which the patient is
allergic to. This helps a lot in getting to the past medical history so that it can be considered at
the present stage as well. Recording the symptoms of the patient is also very important because
on that basis only, medications can be decided.
So, after analysing all the internal as well as the external factors, a registered nurse
focuses on providing an efficient amount of treatment and medication to the patients. This
clearly defines the role of a registered nurse and its impact on the amount of treatment provided
to the patients. Providing an efficient rate of care and support to the family members also is the
responsibility of the nurse. It is important as well because in such situations, it is obvious that the
family members of the patient needs some sort of support. So, a registered nurse can focus on
providing the same to the family members of the patient. These can be termed as the
responsibilities of a registered nurse.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded from the report that there are multiple number of health issues being
faced by the people in the city of horizons. The city of horizons can be termed as the

combination of a place where there is the availability of an efficient rate of tourism, recreational
as well as health care facilities so that the people there can be able to live a happier and healthier
life. One of the leading issues in the city of horizons have been observed as the obesity because
of which the people have to undergo various other complications. So, involvement of proper
preventive measures can actually prove to be helpful in providing an efficient rate of treatment to
the people dealing with obesity. This can be termed as one of the appropriate options that can
help the people of the city of horizon to live a happier life. Different aspects of obesity and its
relation with the other health problems have also been included in the report. For involving
proper preventive measures, the role of a registered nurse plays an important role. Whether it is
in terms of providing the medications or the treatment procedure, a registered nurse can prove to
be beneficial enough in promoting a healthier lifestyle and thus, focusing on a better and efficient
rate of staying healthy and fit.
