Question one
There are several assessment data that the two nurses need to collect before beginning to develop
a program with seniors on healthy eating. These assessment data mainly entail the determinants
of the healthy eating habits. The first assessment data is on the common nutrition diseases that
frequently attach the community of Nova Scotia. Specific nutritional diseases always indicate the
type of food that individual lack in the body according to Lin et al, (2016). After getting the list
of these diseases, the two nurses can come up with a nutrition program that accommodate the
foods that can prevent the identified nutritional diseases. The second assessment data is the
weight of most people residing within the community. Moore, (2018) said that certain eating
habits influence the weight of an individual. For example those who are overweight are likely to
be depending on cholesterol foods in most cases. The nutrition program can assist in this case by
recommending other test of food that will ensure that the body balances the weight according to
Pareja et al, (2018). Apart from the above two, the next assessment data is the composition of the
family daily meals. The information would assist the two nurses to understand whether the
community members maintains a balanced diet or not. After getting the data, nutrition program
can recommend the based composition of foods that will influence the health of the members of
the society. The other type of assessment data is the frequency at which members of the family
take their meals. For example, the number of times the family have meals in a day. There are
cases where some people might be starving given that they take few number of meals per day.
Question two
There are many reasons why the two nurses should obtain the above information. The first
reason is that the above data are the main determinants of healthy eating according to Daudt et al,
(2018). For example, when one is overweight, in terms of nutrition it indicates that the person

have developed a specific eating habit which is unhealthy. The person need advice on how to
change the food consumption habits to attain healthy living. The other reason is that the
improvement on the above information will bring about positivity in terms of health. When the
community get a balanced diet, it will assist them to prevent nutritional diseases that may claim
the life of individuals in the society. Another thing is that the program on healthy eating will
dwell on the weakness of the members of the society in terms of eating habits.
Question three
The first main initiative is walking from door to door to educate people on what they need to do
to maintain healthy eating. The door to door campaigns will give the nurses an opportunity to
engage the members of the families on how to carry out multiple things. The second initiative is
making use of the media around the community. For instance the local radio stations that are
operating within Nova Scotia society. They can air programs that teach people on healthy eating
habits. The last initiative is using any public gathering for example in market places, schools and
hospitals to educate people.
