AI Summary
This research report delves into substance abuse as a significant community issue, employing the cubing methodology for brainstorming and in-depth analysis. It defines substance abuse, compares it to other health issues, and associates it with various drawbacks to the body system and social problems. The report analyzes commonly abused drugs in the United States, particularly among youths and adults, and explores the application of the cubing technique in facilitating a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The research focuses on identifying the age group most affected by substance abuse in the U.S., outlining a plan for data collection through photography, and providing a timeline for completing the project within three months, using a Gantt chart for scheduling and time management. The report anticipates capturing at least ten photos a week for three weeks, with high-definition quality, and includes references to support its findings.

Research On Substance Abuse
Many community issues exist in our society. In this case, the study will delve into exploring
substance abuse as a keynote issue that is common almost everywhere in the globe. Substance
abuse is a universal community problem because nearly every country is struggling to establish
policies to deal with the problem of substance abuse because it’s a problem whose effects are far-
reaching (Stahl & Grady, n.d). Considering the topic of research, cubing methodology will be the
most appropriate technique to use in brainstorming. Rawlinson (2017), describes brainstorming
as a model that breaks the issue under discussion into six sub-sections under the cubing method.
The following is the in-depth analysis of the social problem considering the six elements:
1. Description
According to Rounsaville (2007), the concept of substance abuse is defined as a way of using
a harmful substance with the intention of altering the mood. Substance abuse takes place
when illegal or non-illegal drugs and alcohol is taken in excess to affect conscious body
metabolism.
2. Comparison
When substance abuse is compared with other community health issues, substance abuse
is common because it penetrates as well as cuts across all the age groups. For this reason,
the drawbacks of substance abuse, for instance, the problems related to social issue affect
people regardless of their age group, socioeconomic class, and ethnic background.
3. Association.

Substance abuse is associated with several drawbacks to the functioning of the body
system. For instance, substance abuse can be associated to cause disabilities, health issues
cause impaired control and making the addicts fail to meet responsibilities as well as
conjuring other social problems (Knight, Wechsler, Kuo, Seibring, Weitzman &
Schuckit, 2002). Therefore, substance abuse is a community health problem that affects
almost every family.
4. Analysis
The analysis of the substance abuse issue in the community, especially in the United
States, an array of commonly abused drugs includes Marijuana, cocaine, hallucinogens,
heroin, and methamphetamine. Illegal drugs have affected the social lives of most youths
and even the adult population in most States.
5. Application and argument.
The cubing technique comes in handy with this research because after the brainstorming
process, cubing facilitates extensive understanding of the topic, by breaking the issue and
researching more about the problem. Furthermore, the techniques are appropriate for this topic
because the complexity in the question is exhausted thus boosting the intimate understanding of
the issue of research without forgetting the sharpness and the broader awareness cubing
methodology brings to enhance the arguments in further research.
The research question is:
Which age group is most affected by substance abuse in the U.S?

Quantity and quality of work to expect
I anticipate capturing at least ten photos a week. The collection of the pictures will last
for three weeks; therefore, the total number of photos likely to be captured is 30 photos before
the completion of the data completion exercise. There will be no specific days of capturing the
images, but a weekly target must be achieved regardless. In case, during the weekdays I will be
held up with other tasks, I will spend the weekend to meet the weekly threshold. The quality of
the photos should be of high definition; with a powerful camera-probably with 3D definition
lens. This will improve the clarity of the data.
Timeline for completing the project
The research project will take a total of a maximum of three months. The Gant chart
below shows the work breakdown of the project until the final submission of the research
project.

final Project
The Gant chat above summarizes the schedule of the project. The Project is anticipated to
take three months; all the activities have been scheduled to tally with the allocated time. Data
collection process will be undertaken in February. By early March, the writing process of the
project will begin, and its anticipated the first worksheet should be handed over during the Mid
of March. Worksheet two will be handed over by early April while the final project will be
handed over not later than the end of mid-April.
In the case of encountering some hindrances during the execution process, I will catch up
on my work by rechecking my mapping goals after checking if I am making use of the most
appropriate time management tool. Regularly, I will delve into auditing my time to review the
deadline of the schedule is observed thus keeping my task in the truck. Furthermore, I will vow
to dedicate my commitment towards achieving the goals of the project as enumerated in the work
plan.
