NURSING ASSIGNMENT1
Community health related degrees are meant to help the individual interested in
healthcare to address the issue of a specific community and deal that with determination
(Stanhope & Lancaster, 2015). There is variety of area that are being covered by the community
healthcare professionals as public or private healthcare agencies hire them depending on their
ability to withstand against the odds and help the community to come out of the current health
issues. I am interested in healthcare practice meant for meant for elders because according to
United Nations (2015), the numbers of elders are increasing in USA and to deal with their health
related problems, I want to devote my learnings in helping them out.
As the number of elderly people are increasing, formation of care homes have been
enhanced by the government so that hospital beds can be implied for other seriously ill patients,
which leads the elders to deprived of the traditional healthcare service (Stanhope & Lancaster,
2015). Therefore, community healthcare professionals should be able to connect to the elder
community in residential homes and for this they must possess a bachelor’s degree in health
education as well as a post-hiring training so that their skills can be enhanced. As the USA is
facing an aging population, more than 19% available positions are present for community
healthcare nurses (United Nations, 2015).
This available positions determines the lack of nursing professionals for elderly
population within the community and hence, this community is suffering from mental, physical
and emotional ailments affecting the overall wellbeing of the community (Brownie &
Nancarrow, 2013). However, while working in the community, I have learned that the elder
community is much more concerned about their health and wellbeing and accepts all

interventions that can improve their condition. This situation changed my perception about
nursing as I consider this as a duty of caring rather than a profession to earn living.
