Functioning Purpose of Mission Australia
Mission Australia harbours a belief that all person within Australia should be able to
have access to the facility of secure housing. Mission Australia wants that the people of
Australia should be able to maintain good health and people should feel themselves to be an
important part of this community (Missionaustralia.com.au., 2018). In order to serve this
purpose, Mission Australia provides respected along with innovative Community Housing
that can help in alleviating the pain of many homeless people residing within Australia. Drug
along with alcohol addiction is a great social issue that faces the young Australians. Mission
Australia wants to offer support to these people and they have a holistic approach towards
solving these problems.
The people of Mission Australia work in all the arenas pertaining to personal
development and they help people in leading a healthy life without any kind of alcohol or
drug use. It has been found that around 1 of every five Australians experiences issues related
to mental health. There are 4 million Australian who have disability and Mission Australia
extends its generous hand for serving these people. Mission Australia is devoted to its role as
that of an NDIS partner and the organization delivers Early Childhood Early Intervention for
people suffering from mental illness along with psychosocial disability (Gordon, 2016).
Mission Australia helps people of various ages who have to face barriers pertaining to
employment so that they can gain the skills that can help them in keeping the job.
Theoretical Perspectives underpinning the objectives of the organisation
The objectives of Mission Australia pertains to building of a happy along with
enjoyable community. Mission Australia is dedicated towards the people who are homeless
and often have to sleep in the hotels and stay with the relatives till they become unwelcome
for them. The objectives of Mission Australia is to work with the families that can help them

in dealing with various kinds of challenges like domestic violence and alcohol issue. The
main aim of the Early Learning Services of Mission Australia is to provide kids with the
chance so that thet can play within exciting natural environment. The objective of Mission
Australia is related to the Empowerment Theory as the activities of the organization can
develop the capabilities along with proficiencies of the individuals in the society
(Cunningham, Baines & Charlesworth, 2014). Mission Australia implements suitable
programs that can strengthen the people so that they can lead a happy and healthy life.
The theory underpinning the objectives of Mission Australia is that of empowerment
theory as it provides social housing support, child and youth service that can help the
vulnerable section of the society. Mission Australia empowers the people suffering from
disabilities by providing them with different kinds of social support. Employment can prove
to be greatly effective and it can help in improving the financial condition of the people
(Edwards, 2014). Mission Australia thus empowers the youth by providing them with
requisite amount of training that can help them in relation to employment. Mission Australia
understands social along with mental experiences pertaining to addiction and they empower
the people by breaking their addiction.
Evaluation of Process and Practice of Mission Australia
Impact Measurement is indicative of the process that helps Mission Australia in
improving their services along with improving the lives of their clients. Mobile outreach
service called Going Places- Street to Home in Cairns has worked with the client group and
they have noticed that there are many people who fail to get medical care within time.
Mission Australia also sent mobile nurses so that they could care for the people who were
experiencing homelessness on that of the street. The viewpoint of the client was asked
regarding whether mobile nursing care had been able to bring about improvements in in the
health of the people. Michael Project of Mission Australia was aimed at helping the homeless

men within Sydney so that improvements in their life can be brought about (Okumura,
Saunders & Rehm, 2015).The results of the Michael Project brought out the fact that timely
support can help in improving the lives of the marginalised communities. The findings
showed that hospitalisation rate was reduced from that of four to that of 1.7 times. It showed
that improvements have been brought about in the quality of the lives of the Australian
people. The social along with economic programmes of Mission Australia reported that they
did not feel isolated as a result of which there was three times higher chances of them getting
employed. The results revealed that reducing the factor of homelessness can help in saving
money. Cost benefit analysis revealed the fact that there were lower chances of these people
accessing public funded health along with justice service (Bradley & Griffin, 2015).
Resources and Funding of Mission Australia
Mission Australia acts as the local partner within the community for delivering
National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The Local Area Co-ordination Service can
helps in providing information and it can help in providing support to the community.
Mission Australia helps in delivering services to people who have got mental illness along
with psychosocial disability under that of Personal Helpers and Mentors (Harrison & Healy,
2016).This program is funded with the help of Department of Social Services. There is
another program called Partners in Recovery that is funded with the help of Federal
Department of Health. The Dick & Pip Foundation helps the Australians in facing the issue of
homelessness. Mission Australia works together with Dick & Pip Foundation for exhibiting
generosity in standing together with the Australians. Dempsey Family works with Mission
Australia in supporting programs related to family homelessness. Mission Australia is
instrumental in running Indigenous Employment Program that is funded with the help of the
Australian government along with the help of local partnerships. It helps in ensuring that
Aboriginal and the Torres Strait islander Australians are offered help so that they can get
