Introduction
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the chosen article is to discuss about the private and public sector
organization inclining towards implementation of information technology in the project
management for operating different projects that they have undertaken.
Outline of the report
This report discusses about the article that is chosen and details of the article is
provided in a precise manner. Statement of purpose is also provided in the report in the
introduction section. This statement of purpose helps in understanding the goal and objective
of the project. Intention of the chosen article and that of the report is also stated. The findings
that are made from the article are also stated in a precise manner. Research methodology that
has been used in the article is also stated. In this case proper discussion has been made
regarding the methodology that has been made. Another aspect that is to be considered is that
the reason due to which the chosen methodology is being implemented is also stated in the
report. Result found from completion of the report is also provided. Recommendations for
better implementation of IT in project management is also stated in the report.

Intention of the report
The intention of the report is to discuss about the importance of IT project
management in different sectors of industry. This ensures that proper understanding of
augmentation of IT in project management is performed. It has been seen that implementation
of IT in operational process of each and every industry has been increasing. This has been the
major reason that importance of IT project management has been in an increasing node. The
main intention of this report is to develop a proper understanding of the terminologies namely
IT, project management, private and public sector organizations [4]. Proper blend in between
the vivid sections have been the major concern of the report. Factors that are responsible for
abandonment of IT project management in few sections are also discussed in this section.
Again, factors that act as a reason of success has been one of the major aspects that is
considered [1]. Maturity of information technology project management is also considered in
this report. Guidelines that are important in the proper understanding of the IT project
management process is stated.
Finding of the report
It has been seen that implementation of project management in IT industry has been
increasing. This leads to the fact that implementation of IT project management has been
increasing [5]. Implementation of developed schedule and strategic objectives have been one
of the major aspects that leads to higher acceptance of the chosen phenomenon. It has been
found that the project management infrastructure that is used by the private sector in the IT
department will not be acting relevant for the public sector. It has been seen that projects that
are undertaken by the private organizations in order to gain competitive advantages over the
other organizations [3]. Whereas in case of the Public sector, the main aspect that is
considered is that the projects undertaken is not taken as per the competition point of view.

The entire processing of the public sector acts in a different way. This is also one of the main
reasons that the IT project management strategies that are to be implemented in the private
and public sector will be different from each other. Another major difference that can be
stated in between the public and private sector are the stakeholder’s. The width and depth of
the stakeholder of the public and private sectors are different as well. It can be stated that in
case of the private sector the stakeholder set that is considered is highly distinct and focused.
They have a separate set of clients and hence wise proper accountability of the client are
required. A separate set of project management setup is required for performing this kind
business processing. Again, in case of public sector the clients that are focused on are
different. The preciseness of the clients are low and diversity of the stakeholders are high.
Hence the project management set up that will be required will be much different than that of
the Private sector [6]. Another consideration is that the projects undertaken by the public
sector is abided by extensive laws and regulation. This imbibes the fact that the scheduling
process of IT Project management is much different in both the cases. In public sector the
time that is required in the acknowledgement section as well as in the approval section should
be much higher than that of the private sector. The project planning phase is also different for
both the private and public sector. As the organization linkage is much diverse in case of the
public sector the functioning process and hence wise the project planning process changes as
well. Again, it is seen that IT project managers are allotted with lower stature in the public
sector than that of the private sector [8]. There have been 4 major gaps that are found in the
IT project management section as goal driven plans might be suffering due to inappropriate
scheduling process. Improper knowledge management has also been another major reason for
improper assessing of the projects.
However, there are a few issues that are present in the IT project management section.
Due to the failure in the IT project management there are 3 kinds of failures. The failures are

namely total abandonment, substantial abandonment and partial abandonment [2]. The
abandonment method is selected as per the failure of the project that has been undertaken. In
case the project is a complete failure in terms of time management as well as that of funding
issue, total abandonment takes place. Again, with the help of IT project management risk
assessment can be performed. In this case the risks that are present in the undertaken project
are estimated and hence wise the scheduling process is performed.
Methodology
This article is completely based on secondary data collection method. The method
that is implemented in this case is that peer reviewed articles are acknowledged and
understood for proper development of concept of the topic that is chosen. The main reason of
using this method is to overcome the copyright issues. As in case of peer reviewed articles
proper referencing is done. This makes the data authenticated. Hence it can be stated that the
data that is used is highly authorized. Accuracy of the data is also high in case of using peer
reviewed journals. Hence with accurate data proper understanding of the subject can be
made. Usage of both qualitative and quantitative data collection is made. In this case initially
qualitative data collection is made. This helps in getting accustomed with the basic concept of
IT project management. There are few sections that helps in providing high success to the
projects that have been implementing the likes of IT project management. Having a positive
collaboration with the users are considered. In case the correlation in between the users and
the project, higher success can be estimated in the process. Gaining support form upper
management also ensures higher success rate of the projects. Proper implementation of the
project management methodologies are also the main aspects of success for the project that is
undertaken.

Result
Over the last few decades it has been seen that implementation of IT project
management in different projects has been increasing. The major reason of this increase is
that the business processes have been including IT in operational process of several projects.
Key IT project management techniques that have been found out are namely the steps that are
important for accomplishment of the project, understanding the project requirement, risk,
planning, user involvement, scheduling, management methodology, communication
alignment, globalization and change control process.
Recommendation
 Proper planning is required before scheduling of the project.
 Proper documentation of the scheduled data is also required.
Was the project implemented well?
In case the recommendations are followed, then implementation of IT project
management in the projects undertaken by the private sector and government sector will be
benefitted.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be stated that IT project management is widely
getting used in the processing of operational section of the organizations that has been
undertaking different new projects. There are both benefits and disadvantages that are present
due to the usage of the IT project management in the execution process of the projects.
However, it has been seen that the amount of advantages that are received due to the
implementation of the technology has been much higher. This is one of the major reasons that
this technology has been in use for a prolonged period and acceptance of the technology has

been on the higher side. However, on following the recommendations that are stated the
issues that are present in the project execution can be eliminated.
