Assessment Report: Comparing Topcon Automatic Levels for Surveying

This report presents a comparative study of three Topcon automatic level models: AT-B2, AT-B3A, and AT-B4A. The document, structured in three parts, begins with an introduction outlining the purpose and audience, which includes the Survey Manager, Project Manager, and Finance department. The second part delves into a detailed comparison of the models, focusing on features such as magnification, focus range, compensator type, and weight, leading to a recommendation of the AT-B3A model based on its balance of magnification and weight. The final section includes a comparative table summarizing the key specifications of each model, including magnification, focus range, compensator details, working temperature, weight, and resolving power. Part A
In order to complete this assessment, Microsoft Word shall be used. The document aims at
presenting a comparative study of three different makes and models of Topcon
AUTOMATIC levels.
The document has been divided into three sections: The first section mentions the purpose
and audience of the document, second part mentions the selected make and model to be
recommended to the Survey Manager which will be done in the report format and third
section is the appendix which includes a table of comparison among three makes and models
of AUTOMATIC levels.
Audience of the document includes Survey Manager, Project Manager and Finance
department.
Organizational requirements for documentation are as follows:
 Visual presentation – It includes margins, fonts and styles.
 Grammar – It includes spelling, punctuation and writing style.
 Graphics standards – It includes use of logo and brands.
 Naming conventions – It includes conventions and filing protocols.

Part B:
Introduction
In this report, a comparative study has been conducted to on the three different make and
model of Topcon Auto Level. Three models have been chosen i.e. AT-B2, AT-B3A and AT-
B4A. The comparison has been on different features of the auto level. And depending on the
comparison, one model has been recommended.
The analysis was done using features such as magnification, focus range, compensator type,
compensator setting accuracy, compensator working range, working temperature, weight,
slow motion screws, peep sight, resolving power, image and length. It is observed thought the
magnification of AT-B2 is higher than AT-B3A and AT-B4A, but it weighs more than them.
Also, setting accuracy of AT-B3A and AT-B4 is much higher than AT-B2. Between AT-B3A
and AT-B4A, AT-B3A has higher magnification than AT-B4A.
Recommendation
Based on the above analysis, AT-B3A is recommended because it weighs lesser than AT-B2
and has higher magnification power as compare to AT-B4. These two features are critical for
Auto Level models.
Conclusion
The report studied different models of Topcon Auto Level on the basis of various features.
Critical features were given higher weightage as compare to non-critical ones. Magnification
and weight were selected as two important characteristics for deciding among the models.
