Difference between namespace root and a folder within DFS
Namespace root is considered as the starting point. The major benefit that it possesses
includes the likes of pointing towards other root targets. These root targets are the shared folders
which are located in different servers. The root servers are domain controllers as per member
servers. Whereas in case of folder within the DFS, the main aspect that is considered is high
visibility (Sevilla et al. 2018). Hence wise navigation process gets benefitted due to the folders
within DFS. This also provides a fault tolerance capabilities. There is a huge operational
difference in between namespace root and a folder within DFS.
DFS utilized to prevent users from adding or changing files in a replicated file
Distributed File System helps in replicating folders in an efficient manner. This
replication is performed across several servers and sites. The main aspect that is considered in
this case is that the compression algorithm is used by DFS. This usage of compression algorithm
by DFS helps in reducing the chances of adding or changing of file in a replicated file. This is
performed as there is a remote differential compression. This remote differentiation function is
used to detect the changes that are caused in the data set during the time of replication. The issue
that DFS only replicates the changed section of the file (Gao et al, 2019). As the entire file is not
present during the replication process, addition and changing of files during the replication
process cannot be performed.
