ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT ENQUIRY
Topic: The impact of US Competition Policy on organizational productivity: In context of
retail industry of USA
1. Introduction
1.1 Evidence from past research
Stucke and Allen (2016) stated that the major aim of the competition policy is to promote
healthy competition among the different organizations for improvements in the industries and
markets. In this context, the different regulations that are enforced by the Federal Trade
Commission (FTC) are dependent on the needs of maintaining the balance in the markets and
securing the consumer interests. Flammer (2015) also noted that the development of the
modern competition policy relating to Sherman Antitrust Act helped in regulating
anticompetitive monopolization. The monopolization of the markets through exclusionary or
predatory acts might affect the growth of the different other companies resulting to a diminishing
growth of the markets. Therefore, the competitive policies are enforced in order to regulate the
competition in the markets and thereby regulate the activities relating to anticompetitive
monopolization.
1.2 Aim of the research
The aim of undertaking the research will be to identify the impact of US Competition
Policy on organizational productivity of retail industry in US.
1.3 Research objectives
The research objectives will be:
ï‚· To understand the essence of Competition policy in US

ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT ENQUIRY
(2017) stated that the incorporation of the competition policy has minimized the rate of
anticompetitive monopolization in the US markets. The delineation of the competition policy has
helped in enhancing the rate of growth in the retail sectors through mutual agreement between
the competing companies.
Crane (2015) stated that the mutual agreements between the competing retail
organizations has helped in enhancing the rate of healthy competition through fixation of prices,
limiting production and dividing the markets. For an example, the fixation of prices and the
enumeration of a healthy competition in the US markets have helped in the development of
organizations like Walmart, The Kroger Co and Amazon. Therefore, the enforcement of the
competition policy on the retail has helped the industry in making spontaneous developments
through the growth and expansion of different ventures.
The enforcement of the competition policies has helped in avoiding monopolistic market
culture and thereby ensuring the interests of the customers. Furman (2016) noted that the
implementation of the competition policy in US has helped Federal Trade Commission in
avoiding situations relating to anticompetitive monopolization and unethical profit making. On
the other hand, Fox (2016) stated that the US Department of Justice (DOJ) designed a leniency
program for encouraging companies to report against any anticompetitive conduct for escaping
fines or criminal convictions. The different federal systems that are developed by the US
government have helped in the growth and expansion of the retail sector in US. The different
clauses that were used in the competition policy have helped in the growth and expansion of the
retail sectors in US.
