Comprehensive statement on my professional development
Teaching is a very complex and sophisticated task. Teaching and learning involve
employing the skills, knowledge, and ability of the teacher in making sure that students develop
important pedagogic experiences.
The foundations of teaching and learning are important to a teacher and the teachers to
be either in school, work or in-home place, ("Foundations of Teaching for Learning:
Curriculum"). The basis of quality teaching and learning are the dynamic lessons taught to
various teaching professionals in the entire world. They help in strengthening the teaching skills,
professionalism and the assessment of teaching programs where even connection is made
amongst professionals to help solve any emerging issues in the globe. Teachers are trained on
how to address various issues emerging in the classroom and how to help all types of students,
including the ones with special needs.
Professionally, I have been able to learn that students are of different abilities and their
knowledge levels differ through cognitive theory, humanistic perspective, and development
theory. This shall help in my classroom wok to know how to handle different types of students in
instilling knowledge. I have learned that the ability of the student is based on their cognitive
development. The basis of values, knowledge, and skills that pupils exhibit are grounded at their
basis, which is at their ECDE classes. Students learn on an individual basis and mostly from
groups led and monitored by their teachers, group work acts as a channel for a teacher to identify
different student's ability and handle their needs differently.
From various theories, I have learned professional knowledge philosophical beliefs,
morals, personalities and goals to help me combine the college learning and influences to

understand the work of a particular teacher, know my students, design lessons, conceptualize
content enact pedagogies and compare what I do with other teacher's experiences, (Ellis &
Orchard, 2014).
Positive student-teacher relationships are built through creating attention to the behavior
and the progress of a student in classwork or co-curricular activities (Ibarra, 2014). Activities
that enable the cognitive and social development of a student are the best. I have learned how to
engage students in class work on an individual basis and group work, a task that has enabled me
to know the skills, strengths, and weaknesses of every people. Even when a student fails in
accomplishing a given task, I have learned how to encourage them to try more and eventually
they shall make it. This is a skill that enables a teacher to keep a student closer and erode fear
hence making a student be able to open up in case of any query.
A lesson plan is translated to learning and classroom best practices trough the teaching
materials it contains that help in catering for all learning styles. To help accomplish all classroom
best practices and tasks, establish a good student and teacher relationship, the lesson plan guides
through daily lessons, fun activities, homework assignments, tests, and questions. They all
enable a teacher to fully engage students where via lessons and activities, students can translate
and understand texts. Tests and quizzes enable a teacher to evaluate the extent to which students
have grasped the learning material.
