I would go for the opinion that "Americans should have a law mandating them to vote or
pay a fine if they fail to do so." This argument is based on several reasons. To begin with, voting
by Americans is a way of expressing love to the nation. It is one of how people can show love,
patriotism, and loyalty to the country. Voting also enables citizens to choose a leader of their
own choice (Elliott, 2017). Failure to vote implies that those who propose to accept a leader on
behalf of the non-participant.
Another reason for voting in America is that the nation is a superpower, a leader chosen
for this nation has a significant impact on third world countries or any country that relies on for a
given support. Therefore, good governance is beneficial to the dependent countries, while poor
management means a disadvantage to them.
Participating in elections also brings change to the entire country. It results in a shift from
oppression and suffering by the ruling party to freedom after a change in governance. The people
can express their views and opinions about the ruling government with no fear that stern actions
are taken against them (Steinberg, 2015).
Improvement of the country's economy is a result of good governance, which is only
achieved through voting. Besides, excellent infrastructures, public safety, good education, proper
management of disease outbreaks like the current Covid-19, reduced poverty levels, and general
good progress of the country is achieved through electing a good leader.
