Introduction
Background of the Project
According to Butler (2017), modern technologies, especially computers, introduce many
opportunities in contemporary life as well as the education system. The advanced technology in
the learning and education system is a new challenge for the teacher of the universities. This
study focuses on the impact of the computer-based education system to college students. This
research paper provides a critical evolution of the advantage and disadvantages of this type of
process of study.
Research Problem
Every university around the world adopts the computer-based education system. Many teachers
and students are using the computer-based education system as a medium of study. This type of
research is useful for a young student more than older students. Kelley (2019) stated that there is
an economic disadvantage for the students, which helps higher financial background students
more than lower economic background students.
Research Rational
In this study, the scholar critically analyzes the impact of a computer-based education system.
The traditional educations system is affected by the modern computer-based educational system.
Thomas (2018) stated that the education system is the main factor in discipline, and it should be

teaching and learning method, which has also been proved as beneficial. This kind of study
method has strengthened the education system with the help of the digitalization. However, the
professor is the main person who teaches the subject and creates learning objectives for the

learn about the missed period through the computer. Additionally, the professors can engage the
students in the evaluation procedure of the lesson after the traditional class is over. This way, the
students get more opportunities to learn the subject precisely.
Bai et al., (2018) also stated agreeing with the previous standpoint that, using this computer-
aided study are creating more necessity among the college students as they can utilize this
method to elaborate the fundamental concepts of the subject more smoothly and can participate
in discussion with their peer groups. In this teaching method, computers are used to control some
of the classroom activities such as lesson planning, learning measurement, data recording, and
analyzing those data statistically. In this case, the professor is the secondary importance, whereas
the computer becomes the primary importance of the teaching-learning procedure. This
computer-assisted study has become the most prevalent study method as it delivers the most
effective visualized teaching to college students.
Aryadoust, Mehranand Alizadeh (2016), in this context, argued that computer-assisted study
helps the students in better problem solving, the ability to design process, better integration with
the peer group, better communication skills and receive prompt and useful feedback. This kind of
computer-based study enables the students to enhance their learning process, become more
creative, and get a more individualized ambiance for learning. Above all, computer-aided studies
provide the students with more straightforward teaching, more enhanced learning, and all kind of
educational facilities through distance mode. Besides, the students are more concentrated in this
type of learning method and enjoy the teaching thoroughly.

In this context, Rafi (2018) opined that computer-assisted studies are more likely to facilitate the
students to better integrate with the professors. But using this computer-aided method can either
harm the entire education system or can improve the students’ potential and effectiveness; both
depend on the strategically implementing capability of the college authorities.
The pros of using this computer-aided study, according to Aryadoust, Mehran, and Alizadeh,
(2016), are as follows:
These types of learning methods initiate college students to embrace an authentic learning
environment. The students get the opportunity to connect with the outer world more easily. Also,
the computer-assisted learning method eliminates the extra tasks of the professor so that the
professor can concentrate entirely on providing the students with quality education. Also, the
professors can manage the assessments of the students more effectively and distribute the grades
among them without creating any human error. This way, the students also become beneficial
through adopting this system as embracing the digitalization will cause them less intimidation
with the technology in their further work life. Additionally, this leaning method creates more
integrated collaboration between the professors and the students, which results in improved
academic performance.
Buzzoni et al. (2016) have elaborated on some of the cons or disadvantages of using this
computer-assisted learning method in the colleges. According to him, technology has already
chained the kids, adolescents, or adults in the shackles. Therefore, if the technology is added in
the study of the college students, it will create more engagement to the screen than usual among
the students. The consequences will eventually impact the brain of the students in the long run.
Also, this can cause a lot of distraction to college students as they can misuse the technology

except learning activities, too. They can utilize this multi-tasking device in social networking and
internet browsing, which will deviate them from the course material. Moreover, the students will
put lesser effort into completing their assignments and will seek entire help from the internet
without any manual effort. There have been several such cases where the college students were
allegedly reported to misuse the technology committing illegal and unethical crimes.
Research Gap
This study analyzes the pros and cons of computer courses for college students in their academic
studies, but this paper only portrays general information. Without delivering statistical data, this
chapter cannot meet the paper’s requirements. Therefore, it is a gap in the literature review
session.
Summary
From the above study, it is evident that these computer-assisted learning procedures are far way
better than the traditional classroom method. The impact of digitalization cannot be denied in the
contemporary advanced society. Therefore, the education system should also welcome this
technology-centered activity. Although there are several disadvantages of this learning method,
proper implementation, and execution of the same will deliberately reduce the apprehension.
Research Methodology
Research Design Strategy
Quantitative and qualitative research strategies are suitable for this study to attain the research
aim. By employing quantitative research strategy, this study can be able to determine the impact
of computer-assisted courses on the academic of college-goers. Moreover, by using a qualitative
research strategy, the research tries to provide information about the pros and cons of computed

oriented course studies to the education system of college students. These two research strategies
assist the research analyst in designing the data collection process for this study to gather reliable
information (Krippendorff, 2018).
Data Collection
This study gathered information from both the sources, i.e., primary and secondary data
collection processes for critically analyzing the set research aim. For collected quantitative
information, this study surveyed 50 college students of King’s College London, which helps the
scholar to identify the role of computer-oriented courses in the education of college students.
Moreover, for determining the pros and cons of computer courses for college-goers, the scholar
preferred to collect data from journals, peer-reviewed articles, books, and others. These two data
collection processes help to collect correct data for this research (Kumar, 2019).
Data Analysis
The scholar to examine the quantitative data has used the M.S. Excel tool, and for descriptively
analyzing qualitative data, this study employed the scholar’s logical skills.
Ethical Consideration
The analyst obeyed the Data Protection Act 1998 for addressing ethical problems. Without
taking consent from the respondents, the scholar did not gather their responses, and this study
collected information from willing candidates only. Here, the scholar had extracted data from
current data sources for protecting paper quality (Brown and Rhoades, 2019).
