Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment provides a comprehensive overview of essential IT concepts for business. It begins by identifying the minimum components required to build a fully functional computer, including input devices, primary and secondary memory, the central processing unit, and display output devices. The assignment then discusses critical features to consider when purchasing a computer, such as storage accuracy, versatility, reliability, and speed, highlighting the importance of a powerful processor and the use of SSDs for high-speed storage. Furthermore, it explains the distinctions between WAN, LAN, MAN, and PAN in terms of their reach and application. The technical advantages of optical fibers over other communication media, particularly their higher bandwidth and faster transmission speeds, are also examined. Finally, the assignment addresses the downside of Wi-Fi pervasiveness, noting that the increased number of access points can lead to interference and congestion, ultimately reducing the range of Wi-Fi networks. Desklib is a valuable resource for students seeking similar solved assignments and study materials.

Introduction:
In this paper discussion will be done on the computer peripherals, features of a
computer, notation of the WAN, MAN, LAN and PAN. Also, the advantages of the optical
fibre and the downside of the Wi-Fi pensiveness will be discussed.
Discussion:
1. To build a fully functional computer with minimum components, the main elements which
need to be considered are the input devices, primary memory, secondary memory, the central
processing unit and the display output devices.
2. Before purchasing a computer, the features which need to be considered are the accuracy
of the storage, high versatility and reliability and high speed. For high speed, the processor of
the computer needs to be powerful, and for the high-speed storage, SSDs can be used.
3. The WAN reach is the most far-reaching system within the network approximately 30
miles. The LAN can provide connectivity within a standard office building usually 4-5
kilometres. MAN links several of LANs within a metropolitan area covers distance about 50
kilometres. The PAN is handheld and portable, such as mobile networks.
4. The main technical advantage of the optical fibres over the others communication media is
the higher bandwidth and faster bandwidth (Poletti et al. 2013). Thus a more significant
amount of data can be transmitted with less amount of time.
5. Considering the pervasiveness of Wi-Fi then actually there is a downside. As there is Wi-
Fi all around, the range of the Wi-Fi becomes shorter because of the interference from the
other competing access points (Bulut and Szymanski 2013). As only some limited number of
channels are available, more access point means more congestion. Thus the range will be
less.

Conclusion:
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that optical fibres can take a huge
amount of data while the range of the Wi-Fi decreases due to increasing access points.
