INTRODUCTION
Computer system is common terms which can be refer as a system which includes
various software’s and peripheral devices that are essential for smoothing running of
computer functions (Cassedy, 2004). The present report is designed to understand the various
concepts regarding different functions and frameworks of computer systems. It is divided into
four sections under which different role and functionality of computers is explained. ABC
Company is taken into consideration which is planning to open a small branch in London for
running a course. For this, the study is made in order to designing and creating the
specification of the 20 computers for the class room.
TASK 1
1.1 Impact of computer systems in social and work and role of these systems in different
environment
In today’s globalized world computer systems are having higher impact on the social
life as well as working of various organizations. It is having several positive impacts such as
employment, low enforcement, traffic control etc (Blundell, 2008). Due to the several
advancements in the field of technology there are increasing numbers of employment
opportunities. Computers impact employment by both creating and destroying various jobs,
but they extremely impact these jobs by changing the nature of jobs available. In addition to
this, it can be stated that there is a positive as well as negative impact of computer systems on
social as well as work. Computers have altered the whole way in which people relates to one
another and their living environment (Warford, 2009). Within any working environment
people can easily organize their work their communities as well as their time. Society has
influenced the development of computers through the various needs and requirements of
people have for processing any type of information. There is positive role of computer
systems within the field of science as well as education. Most of the universities and colleges
give more emphasis to computer education by adding it in their curriculum. It has highly
affected the whole banking as well as business industry. Computers are extensively used in
the banking field. People uses ATM services 24/7 and access any type of service related to
the cash deposit etc. Further, it is quite accurate to say that in today’s modern era all the fields
are somehow related with the computer systems. It has changed the whole era of working
within the society as well as business class people (Ryan, 2010).

There are different role of computer system within different environment such as
home, business, computer gaming, networking, real time, communication etc. People use to
have computer systems at their home in order to get aware and informed about all the
happenings around the world. Most of the people use it for their personal work such as
emailing and word processing as well as using various types of social networking sites. On
the other hand, Electronic mail is another facility that is also supported by various computers
through which individual can send messages from one place to another (Avoine, Junod and
Oechslin, 2007). In addition to this, within the field and area of business there is a huge
advancement of technology. Most of the new entrepreneurs are launching their business
based at their homes or small office locations. Further, they use various computer systems in
order to handle different business operations such as accounting, inventory management,
marketing, payroll etc.
1.2 Main computer hardware components
There is different computer hardware components used for appropriate functioning such as:
CPU: It is the most important hardware device of computer system which is also
called as a central processing unit (Bose, 2000). It helps in executing various computer
programs by using main four operations i.e. fetch, decode, and execute and writeback.

It carried out all the instruction of a computer program by performing some basic
tasks. The typical CPU is having various components such as:
ALU: It is define as an arithmetic logical unit which performs simple arithmetic and
logical operations such as addition, multiplication etc.
RAM: It is another most important component of CPU which can be defines as a
random access memory (McCabe, 2010). It is the form of computer data storage and allows
information to be stored and retrieved.

In addition to this, there is different system software’s which are used for the purpose of
some system utilities such as:
Virus protection: In order to protect the computers from any type of additional and
viruses that harm the computers it is necessary to install various protection software’s. For
this, security systems can be maintained by installing firewalls, ant viruses software’s such as
Norton, Kaspersky etc. These are some clean up tools also available which helps in making
the whole computer system error free (Catsoulis, 2009). Under this, disk clean up windows
tool helps computers in cleaning their programs and fixing all the occurred problems. User
can easily download any type of windows cleanup software’s from Softonic servers. These
tools are free and fast to download and always available. Another most effective tool is
chrome cleanup tool which will scan and remove software that may cause problems such as
crashes, unusual start-up tool based etc. With the help of Chrome cleanup tool all these
problems can be fixed and individuals can easily overcome with it.

Further, one of the major factors of any computer system is measuring their
performance (Gunther, 2011). There are different monitoring tools through which
performance of any computer system can be easily measured such as:
Open the Windows Task Manager (Press Ctrl+Alt+Del) and click on the performance
tab. It gives a total overview of CPU usage, memory and all other related information.

In addition to this, all the users using windows computer system can open Windows Resource
Monitor from the performance tab by clicking the Resource monitor button. It gives much
greater detail of the overall system performance and all other information related to the
network (Ibrahim, 2010).

1.3 Comparison of different types of computer systems and their suitability of usage in
different environment
There are mainly different categories of computer systems such as:
Supercomputer: They are extremely fast computers that are used for scientific
research. These types of computers can store large amount data and easily make any type of
calculation. It is maintained in a special room or environment in order to maintain their
business functioning (Hubbard and Forcht, 1998). It may cost as much as much as $20.
Mainframe: This type of computers allows several users at any time. It can be used
by government, companies, and airline companies for booking etc. It may cost from several
hundred thousand dollars up to $10.
Personal computers: The major concern of using these computer systems are
personal work. Under this, individual can use different computer for their personal use.

Further, all the above computer systems are used for different purpose within the
different business (Computers and computer systems, 2013). A personal computer is use for
personal purpose within the home environment. In addition to this, supercomputers are used
for the business purpose where people can easily maintain their business functioning within
the field of accounting, finance etc.
TASK 2
2.1 Various stages to follow in arriving at final specifications of recommended system
ABC Company can easily run their business in London by giving appropriate training to
all the professionals in graphic design and video editing. For this, they can introduce a new
course on different editing software’s such as: Adobe Photoshop CC 2014, Adobe Premiere
Pro CC , PaintShop Pro X7 Ultimate etc. In the classroom appropriate set up has been made
with storing computers. By this 20 students can be teach at the same time on different
software’s (Kelby, 2012). For this, they must have to review that on what specification of
computers all these software’s can be easily run. There are different requirements such as:

Intel or AMD 1.5 Ghz processor
2GB RAM
1 GB hard disk space
1 024 x 768 resolution with 16-bit colour display
Windows compatible CD/DVD drive for installation

Among all the windows, 7 is the best option for supporting Adobe premiere Pro and
for helping to maintain the hardware implementing it (Adobe Creative Team, 2012).

After considering all the requirements it has been founded that for the appropriate set up
of all the 20 computers various stages that would be follow in arriving at final specification
are as follows:
1. Proper classroom need to be set with placing 20 computers with all their hardware
equipments such as CPU, UPS, Key board, motherboard etc. A proper networking and
switching needs to be done (Gunther, 2011). All the computers must be functioning
properly. For this classroom student workstation need to prepare.
2. Quantity of student workstations: 20
3. Cost: $983.85 per workstation
4. Teacher portable table as well as computer tables must be set in order to keep all the
computers.
5. For all the Pc’s Hardware specifications are as follows:
o Windows 8/8.1
o Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.4 GHz
o Monitor: 19-22 inch flat panel (dual for $5 more)
o Hard Drive: 160-250 GB
o RAM: 4+ GB
o DVD/CDRW Burner
o Embed Ethernet (USB WiFi while supplies last)
6. Software Specification:
o Operating System: Windows 7
o Microsoft Office Suit: Office Suit 2013 (Windows) Office suite 2011
(Macintosh)
o Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
o Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014)

7. On the very next step, all the designing software which is needed to teach must be
installed in all the computers.
2.2 Justification for the
After gathering all the necessary requirements for the installation of all 3 software’s it
has been founded that most common software and hardware requirements for the computer
systems are quite compatible. The above given specifications are the best one under which all
three software’s can run properly. It clearly meets the requirements of the company. After
analysing that what is required for installing Adobe Photoshop CC 2014, Adobe Premiere Pro
CC, PaintShop Pro X7 Ultimate within the computer system user can easily identify the
common specifications (Katsuyama and et al, 2010). All the above selected specifications are
quite common on which all the tasks related to the given requirements can be performed.
Further, it can be stated that the above define Hardware/ Software specification clearly meet
the requirement of the company. All 20 systems can run these software and they can easily
train professionals in graphic design and video editing.
TASK 3
In order to make sure that the specification given above will perform the required
tasks. Company can easily give appropriate training to all the students as well as
professionals (Mariana, Daniel and Colin, 2002). For this appropriate assembling of a typical
computer needs to be done by including all the health and safety procedures.
Step by step process of assembling a typical computer:
In order to assemble a one computer system to check the functionality some tools are
essential i.e. screwdriver, anti static wrist strap, electric tape etc. Before begin, it is essential
to make sure that all the tools are there.
1. Verify that everything that is supposed to be there is actually present.
2. Prepare the motherboard

3. Mount the CPU in the socket of the Main board
4. Connect the CPU cooler to the main board

5. Attach the RAM memory modules in the corresponding slots
6. Attach the Main board back plate to the case

7. Mount the hard disk and connect it to the power supply and the motherboard. There
should be separate power supply for both of this.
8. Connect the USB connectors and the case switches to the motherboard

9. Mount the DVD-ROM drive
There are various health and safety measures which must be taken into consideration such as:
Static electricity is the biggest danger to all the expensive parts user is going to
assemble. It is necessary to use anti-static wrist strap to prevent damage to these
components.

At the time of installing or removing any component make sure that all the lights and
power supply is turn off (Kanoglu and Arditi, 2001). In case of on power supply they
can be seriously damaged.
Never cut the grounding pin off your power cord.
Quite aware about the sharp edges. There are various lower end PC cases those are
having sharp and unfinished edges which must be harmful for any user.
Don’t make any work with wet hands and try to wear gloves at the time of working.
Step by step process of installation of operating system (Windows 7)
Step#1 after turn off the system press ‘F2’ continuously. There is an option that will occur for
boot through CD/DVD. Select the particular option
Step#2 now screen will display a Windows setup window. Under this, language will be
selected by user such as: Select ‘English’. Now click next

Step#3 on this step, license agreement will be display. There are certain terms and conditions
which must be accepted in order to proceed (Super site for Windows, 2015). For this click on
‘I Accept’. Now two options will be arise on the computer screen that is ‘UPGRADE’ and
‘CUSTOM’. In order to install a clean version click on ‘CUSTOM’

Step#4 Partitioning need to be done in this step. In this space, space will be allocated to all
the drives. In order to create a new drive, simply click on the ‘NEW’

Step#5 After creating all the required drives, select the drive in which Windows want to be
installed. Now, click on ‘’Erase’ and it will remove all the past history and data as well.
Further, click ‘Next’ to proceed.

Step#6 This is the starting step where windows have started installing all the files. It will take
some time to keep on processing.

Step#7 now when all the files are installed, PC will automatically rebooted and ‘user settings’
screen will display (GET INTO PC. 2015). In this screen user needs to add her/his name and
password for the future. Now, proceed to ‘Next’

Step#8 in these step windows will activate and user needs to enter the PRODUCT KEY. It is
already given with the cover of CD/DVD. After entering this key enter to ‘Next’
Step#9 Now Windows have been installed in which all the information must be given related
to the timing, computer location etc.
Step#10 Congratulations: You have installed you windows successfully. This message can be
seen on the computer screen.

3.2 Verification of installation
In order to verify the installation all the procedures which have done previously must
be checked. It can be checked after defining that all the disk partitions have been made
properly.
TASK 4
4.1
Different types of backup: In order to carry out and maintain the security of system it
is essential to install various firewalls and antivirus software’s. Company must use different
backup systems within their computer in order to maintain their data. All the files can be
restoring in case of any type error. There are mainly four types of backup i.e.
Full backup: This type of backup contains all the data in the folders and files that are
selected to be backed up (Ryan, 2010). In case of selecting other backup types it may take
longer time while full backup system results in faster and simpler restore options.
Differential backup: It contains all the files that have changed since the last Full
backup. It includes all the new and modified also.
Incremental backup: It store all those files that have changed since the last Full,
differential and incremental backup. It takes least time of complete and contains only the new
and modified file since the last backup.

Mirror backup: It is identical to a full backup which states that files are not
compressed in zip files and they cannot be protected with password (Mano, 2007). In this
type of backup all the files can easily accessed using different tools like windows explorer.
From all the above given backup types ABC company can use full backup system. It
is one of the most effective way through which effective recovery can be made.
Defragmentation tools
Some of the most common defragmentation tools are as follows:
Defraggler: It is a unique tool which allows defragmenting the entire device of some
of the specific files and folder (Cassedy, 2004). It is freely available and defrag can be done
on regular intervals.

Smart Defrag: It is one of the fastest defragmenting tools through which whole disk
is optimized as soon as user turn on the computer (Avoine, Junod and Oechslin, 2007).

Various apps can be leave on the running condition on background and it will defrag the
drive and optimize the file system to speed up every day.

For the automatically execution of defragmentation by the Operating system
(Windows system) there is not as such tool is required as system itself contains a disk
defragmenter that run regularly. On Windows 7 it runs on regular intervals at the time when
windows are turn on. Open Disk defragmenter by clicking on start button. Then configure
schedule it by changing the frequency to daily, weekly and monthly. It decides the frequency
of disk fragmentation.
4.2 What needed to be considered before upgrading any hardware or software of an existing
computer system
At the time of upgrading any hardware or software of an existing computer it is
necessary to go with the full backup of all the files and data. At the time of up gradation any
file of personal information can be lost (McCabe, 2010). Compatibility issue might arise at
the time. At the time of up gradation both hardware and software compatibility are going to
suffer. Before upgrading make sure that you are having any type of serious hardware of
software problems. For this:
Uninstall any unnecessary software’s

Remove viruses and other malware
Defragment the hard drive
Choose the right upgrade as well
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been articulated that computer system plays a major role
in enhancing the productivity of any organization. ABC Company can easily train
professionals in graphic design and video editing by following all the above set up and
process given.
