Health can be defined as a state of being completely physically, mentally, and socially well and
not just the absence of a disease. I understand holistic health to be an individual’s approach to
life and how they interact with the environment.
Question 2
The Canadian healthcare system works pretty well with only minor changes required to make it
even better. According to Martin et al1(p. 1725) the Canadian government takes care of most of the
costs of care and sets the hospital and doctors’ fees making care affordable.
Question 3
Factors that affect children health in Canada may include poverty which is the biggest threat to
good health. Environmental factors such as housing also affect health as the housing may be
insufficient leading to overcrowding. Martin et al1(p. 1730)emphasize that health practices of a child
such as eating and sleeping patterns are other factors. Finally, parenting style will also affect the
health of a child.

I believe that we all need to collaborate and work in partnership to attain healthy lives. It is the
responsibility of families, early childhood educators, the government, health practitioners to
collaborate and ensure quality health.

I believe that the health of a community is a responsibility we must all share as members of the
community. As a community member, I must ensure that the surrounding is maintained clean to
avoid infections. I must additionally care for the vulnerable population to ensure that they do not
feel isolated.

I believe that diversity leads to improved wellbeing and greater social coherence. Singer2(p. 359)
ascertain that with more diversity, there is little room of discrimination and therefore everyone
receives healthcare services irrespective of race, sex, religion, gender, and economic status
among others.
