Summarization of the Selected Performance Measure of CPOE
From the understanding of the case and performance measure based on the development
of Computerized provider order entry (CPOE), it can be summarized that it is considered as a
major innovation in the field of health informatics. Proper measurement of data could be assured
based on gathering data from patient-side, which would be further analyzed with the Clinical
Decision Support (CDS) systems (Prgomet et al., 2016). Performance could also be measured as
the CPOE system would decrease the level of mistakes from prescriptions, improve the
turnaround time, increase within profitability and also lessen the overriding of prescription.
With the implementation of the CPOE systems, the data could be collected from time and
date stamps collected from the hospital database systems, order entry and verification from
pharmacists (Ranji, Rennke & Wachter, 2014). Based on the collected data with the help of
CPOE systems, it has helped in reducing the effects occurred from medical errors and improving
the wellbeing of patients. It has also been analyzed that with the impact of CPOE framework
within the order management process, there has been a major leading factor for reducing the
imminent errors and decreasing the weaknesses based on the ordering process of medicines from
pharmacists.
From the summarization over the use of CPOE systems, it can be concluded that the
implementation of the system within the healthcare industry would lead to a smooth workflow
over the medicine ordering processes and clinical practices (Thrall, 2014). These frameworks are
designed in such a manner that it would lead to improvement with the patient handling system
and order dispatch mechanisms. Other kinds of challenges that had been outlined from the case
highlights the issue of defining variables based on implementing of the CPOE systems. Thus,

from the overall summarization, it can be understood that these systems would prove to be
majorly beneficial in terms of bringing in massive changes within the healthcare industry.
