Introduction
After completing assignment 1 including primary and secondary research, I collect data to supplement my
given project with a more realistic basis. Also in Assignment 2, I will evaluate and reflect research that
what I have learned, learned from this research process. From that point out the shortcomings, lessons to
overcome for the following studies
I, Reflection of Research
1, Impact of research proposal
The first thing to do with the project is to create the proposed research. It helps me provide the necessary
information to answer the research question: "What benefits does smart home bring to human life?" From
there I can define the research objective and scope of the research. Not only that, I need to select materials
suitable for the research. Thanks to the research proposal I can save time and at the same time carry out
research faster and more efficiently.
It was not easy in the process of making the proposal, from finding the right official documents, but what
I found was not enough for research purposes. I also have difficulty in questioning the target, the number
of questions is not enough and it is not clear, also because I do not understand the nature of the topic I
study. With the support of teachers from Greenwich University Vietnam, they helped me give suggestions
on questions, explain more about my research topic, make me understand the direction for the project.

2, Impact of Sequential research process
The sequential research process is briefly described below: first problem analysis will be done for better
understanding or it can be broken down to provide easier solutions for each part. Next is to make
assumptions that can be considered as our own orientation, judgment and thinking about the actual
problem. From there, I will prove this true or not based on the documents and information that I have
gathered. Not only that, it helped me understand what to do first and helped me solve problems by giving
an opinion and verifying it. Dividing problems into small problems is an important step in the research
process, it helps me in solving problems and coming up with methods for research. I had difficulty
exploiting and analyzing it. But I get the help of my instructor, which makes it easier for me to analyze
aspects of secondary research.
3, Roles of Project plan
In order to optimize my research work, I created a concrete plan and made sure all activities in the process
were as consistent and accurate as possible. In order to achieve these goals, it is necessary to ensure a
specific plan that my research requires a clear understanding of a certain issue. I use Gantt Chart to identify
goals to accomplish in the project. I will count the right time while researching this project and make sure
I have enough time. Each task I will allocate the exact time. Through this research plan help me have an
overview of my research. To complete the project on schedule, I have thought and analyzed carefully for
my plan.
I have had difficulty in the process of dividing the work, arranging the messy jobs, having to align the jobs
set out to match the timelines. To solve this problem, I asked my instructor to rearrange the work and
divide the correct sequence in planning to get it done on schedule.
II, Research method
1, Primary research
I have done primary research with methods of collecting and analyzing data from surveys and interviews.
These two methods have advantages and disadvantages so I can most objectively evaluate whether my
project is good or not.
When I do interviews, I choose 3 people, representing different groups of people including researchers,
developers, and smart home users. However, a bit of inadequacy did happen because the people I
interviewed were far from me, I did not have the opportunity to meet face to face for interviews, so I
switched to video calling using ZOOM and Google Meet to inter contact them. These limitations do not
affect my research. When doing the research methodology, the people I interview will have limited
attitudes and perceptions about the project that I research. But fortunately, the people I interviewed
cooperated to be able to gather the necessary data.

I have created a google form survey questionnaire about the benefits of smart home for people. I surveyed
20 people (currently residents of Vinhome Riverside) with 10 questions posed. This method saves me time
and money, but I have a bit of a problem: someone responding superficially, not clearly, filling out the
survey without going into the topic of their response.
This fact observation helped me to come up with real evidence, including videos and photos, that made
the hypothesis that I made in secondary research correct. Difficulties that I encountered during field
observation: Some people were not enthusiastic about me, did not want to welcome me, so my evidence
collection was not much.
2, Secondary research
Knowledge related to IOT research as well as deep understanding of smart homes, the effects of sma rt
homes on people are available on Google , online books, and reputable newspapers so that I can complete
the process research. I can easily learn and analyze based on what experienced IOT and smart home
experts.
The documents and knowledge that I have found are those of experts who are experienced in searching,
very close to reality, giving you valuable documents to read. However, I have difficulty finding documents,
some of the documents that I have collected are old, there are so many different sources that it is very
time consuming to select the right documents because I have to select the right documents accurate
information to match my project goals.
III, Literature review
The first thing I do for my research project is my secondary research to have the most accurate and clear
documents that support my analysis of the results in the following section. I do research so that it helps
me define work sequences, for example I do research and then primary research. I need to crawl through
highly trusted, mainstream articles to get the most useful information.
Then I will give my assumptions and statements. To prove my hypothesis correct or not, I have to conduct
preliminary research. Next is in the secondary research, I will define qualitative and quantitative methods.
I will make the assumptions I get from the data. The mistake I made was the lack of steps in the research
process, I had to re-adjust the steps in order, but it was a bit difficult to spend more time studying
qualitative research. and quantification. As such, it took me a long time to define them.
Through this research topic, I see Literature review playing a quite important role in the research of the
topic:
Help me analyze and find research questions and make them clear about the project's goals
Help me relate from theory to real life and find the basic and necessary concepts
Document Page
Help me increase my understanding and approach to the problem that I apply to research
Help me give ideas, suggestions as well as future directions
IV, Lesson learnt in research
After completing my project research, I have learned many lessons and knowledge that I have to apply to
the following projects:
I have learned where to start implementing projects, plan and organize them properly to follow what
is implemented
I have learned to find materials and resources relevant to my research topics. Most importantly, the
documents I find on the internet must be highly reliable, especially those who have studied smart
home and IoT.
I learned how to do a survey, create a question through a Google form. Not only that, I have used
proficient Microsoft Project tools to draw Gantt Chart and Draw.io to draw WBS
During the interview process, I learned how to deal with the interviewee, politely communicating so
that they do not get annoyed when talking.
I learned the carefulness and meticulousness in the process of making a project, so I should not be
hasty, leading to not clear the direction of my goal to do.
V, Improvements in future researches
Here I will give some points to improve for myself after completing the research. I will use that as a
driving force towards future projects and make it better:
Do not stop learning, learn widely about the knowledge that you need to research
It is necessary to carefully prepare questions for interviews and surveys, to avoid general
understanding of answers by respondents, as long as the questions are short and easy to understand.
Be selective about who should be surveying more seriously, people who take some time to do your
survey
Must be more flexible in absorbing the opinion of the lecturer
Need more confidence when doing face-to-face interviews
Conclusion
In this report, I evaluated the steps taken in the project, more precisely, my research skills. I pointed out
the methods used in my research, the mistakes and experiences I learned. Not only that, but my
lecturers help me enthusiastically for this report so that I can do better research in the future.
