Conceptual model for advanced nursing practice is a holistic model which helps to link
nursing concepts or theories with each- other so that together they could used or the health and
wellbeing improvement of the patients (Butts and Rich 2013). It provides the nursing
professionals with coherent and unified envision of their purpose and helps them to provide the
patients with evidence based interventions. The components of this conceptual theory are grand
nursing theories and components of all those theories are merged together to develop a nursing
model, which includes the entire conceptual framework (Fawcett and Ellenbecker 2015). This
cumulative model could be used to develop broad perspective of the practice and provides an
empirical testing opportunity to the professionals involved. Advanced practice nursing is not just
about providing care to the patients in need, but also seeks advanced and developed thinking
from all te nursing professionals so that their thought process could be used for the research and
development of interventions for quality care (Sastre‐Fullana et al. 2014).
For example, while caring for a patient suffering from chronic cardiac disorder,
application of conceptual model would help the advanced nursing professionals with
autonomous practice so that they could use their research to find out accurate evidence based
practice which could be used for the growth and development of the patient (Fawcett and
Ellenbecker 2015). Due to the broader aspect and scope of the conceptual model of advanced
nursing practice, application of this in care process for the patient would encourage aesthetics,
ethics and empirics and hence, higher quality of the care with accurate intervention would be
obtained (Butts and Rich 2013).
