INTRODUCTION
The study have focus on conducting research about the banqueting and conference sector.
Report has focus on reviewing the size and scope of banqueting industry that are located in UK.
The significance of these industries have increased from last few years due to worldwide
conference and development.
TASK A
A) Reviewing the size ans scope of conference and banqueting industry.
Hospitality industry is all about combining events and usually these industries has wide
scope as it organise various types of events such as birthday party, wedding, seminars, small
gatherings etc. Conference and banqueting sector is truly a worldwide industry with programs
being organised every day worldwide in various presentation centre that organise number of
events attract domestic and local customers. The range of the event industry is to provide several
benefits for visitors visiting various destination. The scope of these industries is to achieve and
offer good quality of service emphasizing on food and beverage segments.
(Carver and Byrd, 2008) The banqueting and conference industry is among the major industries
of UK. It has potential to generate enormous income and revenue foe the country. From last
couple of years incentives, conferences, exhibition and meting has contributed towards the
extension of scope of this industry. It has allowed firm to increase its size by expanding its core
business activities. UK is considered as strong competitor in the sector of conferencing and
banqueting. British association of conference has stated that travelling is conducted by most of
the travellers for the purpose of attending meeting, conferences trade fairs etc. United kingdom is
considered as significant global player in conference sector. The UK government is planning to
establish convention center in order to assist organisation in becoming competitive and support
conferencing industry in their growth as well as development process. The management of
banqueting and conference sector organizes and hosts several events such as public and private.
The scope of industry is very big as there are number of business sectors such as hotel, clubs,
restaurant, pubs. There are some welfare sectors like academic institutes, old age homes etc.
B) An analysis of different influences that have shaped the industry
The Advertising Media has great influence on conference and banqueting industry. It has
allowed organisation to promote their good and services in market. It has provided firm an
opportunity to generate brand awareness. Technological factors have encouraged firm to improve

services. The legal factors such as laws and policies framed by government has allowed business
entity to expand their business and increase their profitability. Economic condition of the
country has provided industry an opportunity to increase their profitability and revenue
generation capacity.(Chang and Chen, 2008,)Socio cultural factors-The UK has very rich
historical culture that attracts visitors. Travellers desire to see, read and gain experience on
events of antiques have great influence on industries decision. Economic factors-The
celebrations are through events. Economy of the country has made necessary for existing
industries to support new emerging organisation. Political factor have assisted company in its
growth.

2.1 Strategic and operational issues' in managing events
The following the major issues that are faced by conference and banqueting industries.
Some issues are :
Guest profiling- It has become major challenge for the industry to analyse the needs and judge
the preference of their client. As the customer choice changes with passage of time.
Demanding customer- Every customer can make or break experience. Consumer can provide
firm an opportunity to win or loss the repeat business and allow them to improve their
performance.
Lowering cost , increasing revenue-It has become difficult for organisation I.e Hilton Hotel to
identify the new revenue sources . Due increase in cost of production it has become difficult for
firm to determine suitable strategy for reducing cost of production.
2.2 Assessment of execution and attribute reassessment method that can be utilized within
commercial enterprise
There are following methods that can be used for performance evaluation by conference
and banqueting industry are :
Risk management technique-This method has been designed to asses the risk management
performance and to judge the effectiveness. This method provides qualitative measure of
management that is depended on predefined goals and benchmarking.
