INTRODUCTION
The conferencing and banqueting industry is one of the most growing and developed
sectors of United Kingdom in today’s era. The main motive of this assignment is to know about
the various sides that can impact on the banquet and conferencing industry. In the present report,
scope and size of conferencing and banqueting sector will be discussed. There are some factors
that put their effect on the growth and development of this industry. In this report, mentions
about the operational issues and the key strategic included in the efficient and effective
management of banquet and conferencing industry. To increase the performance level, hotel
industry used review tool and technique. In this report also discuss about the factors that needs to
be consider at the time of organising an off-site banquet and conferencing.
1.1 Scope and size of conference and banqueting industry in the UK
The scope and size of the banquet and conferencing industry is a most necessary elements
to attract customers and also creditors in banquet and conference industry. In United Kingdom,
scope and the size of industry related to the banquet and conferencing is depend on the many
important factors like style of an ownership related to the banquet and conference industry along
with the induction and the level of service which is provided by the industry. The industry
related to banquet gives the good meeting space along with the food related facilities for people
who came for attending the seminar. On the other hand, meeting industry gives the seminar
facilities as well as conferencing and meeting facilities.
United Kingdom is one of the largest developed country. United Kingdom has biggest
conference halls and this country is also an economically strong business organisation. In the
United Kingdom country, the banqueting and conferencing industry is one of the largest growing
industry (Carson, 2013 ). The scope of this industry is totally depend on taking a support from
the another same industry like for an instance bars, pubs, restaurants etc. after conducting the

hotels are situated. Mostly the size of every hotel is large. But basically the size of banquet and
conference is large, medium and small. In addition to the United Kingdom, the size of this
industry is also based on the number of participants . Like in small size conference hall, there can
be around 500 people, around 600-1000 people can attend the banqueting and in the large size

I am working in a Hilton hotel as a banquet and conference manager. The main focus of
this hotel is to improve its operational issues. To enhance the performance level, it is necessary
for Hilton Hotel do the functions in an effective way. How ever, it is necessary to growth and
profitability of Banqueting and Conferencing organisations to include some of the following
important operational strategies:
Packaging and pricing- In context to it, the Hilton hotel conducts a research to know
about the pricing of its other strong competitors (Muchenje, 2011). It is necessary that the price
should be reasonable and management has to find out some innovative and unique ideas for the
packaging. With the help of increasing flexibility, company can add some additional value of
providing the various kinds of goods and services to its consumers. In regards to this, there will
be also need to increase the flexibility of conferences and banqueting.
Discounts- From giving the discounts and any kind of offer attract the customers most.
So, to attract the consumers towards the services of an industry, it is necessary for Hilton Hotel is
to offer discounts and also conducts some events.
Licensing laws- To run a business successfully, the licensing should be necessary. It is
provided by the government and it is also a sign to run business under the legal circumstances.
The license helps in operating a business under the government rules and regulations.
Health, hygiene regulations and safety- It is the responsibility of Hilton hotel is to
provide good quality of eating, drinking products to tits consumers and also to those people who
are present there for the purpose of attending any conference and seminar (Pantelidis, 2012). The

customer services and also provide training quality work and safety in accordance to give proper
hygiene food items to people which are present in hotel. Many of the people focus on level of
hygienic and also the low hygienic foods which can reduce the effectiveness and efficiency
towards its customers.

The quality review and the performance of Hilton hotel is help in improving the events
and its on going process. Review or feedback of consumers is very important for determining the
efficiency and effectiveness of conferencing and banqueting sector in United Kingdom. To
organise any kind of conference and seminars, it is necessary that the management and the vision
of Hilton hotel should be considered. The performance of conferencing as well as banqueting
industry is based on the proper participation of people and the good management of hotel. There
are some of the effective techniques used by Hilton hotel given below as above:

some funds. The management of Hilton hotel should divide the total money according to the
