Conflict Management: Conflict Management involves the practice in which the conflicts
that arise in an organization are identified and handled efficiently, fairly and sensibly. In a
workplace, conflicts are natural part. To understand the conflicts and resolve them is the main
concern in an organization. There should be people present in an organization who are able to
understand the conflicts and find out resolution methods to mitigate the conflicts.
Causes of Conflict: For completion of project, there always lie some conflicts among the
members of the project in regards to complete the project successfully (Gounaris et al., 2016).
There are mainly three sectors from which the conflict rises in an organization.
Goal-oriented conflict-This type of conflict is related with the end outcomes or results,
objectives, priorities, performance specifications as well as criteria.
Administrative conflict-This type of conflict refers to the management structure. It also
refers to philosophy and is mainly based on the definition of roles, responsibilities and reporting
relationships and authority for tasks, processes, functions, and decisions.
Interpersonal conflict- Interpersonal conflicts occur due to differences in work ethics,
egos, styles, and personalities of the participants.
Resolving strategies of conflict: Mediate the conflict- In conflict management, mediation
is considered to be a voluntary process. In the mediation process, the mediator or the impartial
person helps in communication between parties and also promotes reconciliation between them
which helps the organization to reach to an acceptable agreement.

Arbitrate the conflict- Arbitrate in conflict management is submission of disputed matter
to arbitrator for the purpose of discussion. The impartial person controls all the processes, listens
to both the sides and then take decisions.
Control the conflict- It is possible to control the conflict at the beginning of project.
Before any conflict arises in the organization, precautions are taken by the mediator or arbitrator.
Accept the conflict- The acceptance phase involves in accepting all the conflicts that
arises in the company (Prenzel & Vanclay, 2014). Not able to do anything, the organization has
no other way to accept all the conflicts that arise in handling a project.
Eliminate the conflict- All the conflicts that comes in an organization can be eliminated
and mitigated by the project managers or the team members.
One conflict management resolution plan: One of the best conflict resolution plans is to
mediate the conflict which comes while dealing with a project. The mediate plan helps to
promote cooperation and communication. The mediate planning is informal, flexible and
voluntary. Mediate conflict helps in successful completion of the project.
