This assignment requires students to work in groups of two or three to create and perform a role-play depicting a workplace conflict negotiation. One participant will be a skilled negotiator, while the other(s) will be less skilled. The scenario must be original and not based on a disciplinary topic. The role-play must demonstrate the four stages of the ICRM (Integrated Conflict Resolution Model). A written component (approximately 2000 words) is also required. This component includes a brief summary of the role-play, an analysis of the conflict using Mayer's concepts, a reflection on the negotiation skills demonstrated, and an evaluation of strengths and weaknesses. The written portion will be assessed based on several criteria, including the summary, conflict analysis, evidence of preparation, examples of skills demonstrated, critique of the negotiation process, analysis, evaluation, judgment, and writing quality. The assignment is worth 15% of the final grade.
