REFLECTIVE ESSAY
A person faces various situations of serious disagreements or arguments in personal or
professional life. These conflicts then affect the person itself and the environment around. Hence,
it is highly required to manage them effectively so that work can be carried in appropriate
manner (Benner,2016). There exists various resolution theories that can be used for conflict
management. There are several reasons that influence the conflicts to take place. They can be the
human behaviour, mental or emotional well-being, cognition stage, and many more. However,
by suitable application of conflict resolution and negotiation skills personal and professional
issues can be resolved. This report covers suitable approaches to resolve two conflicts by making
use of appropriate conflict resolution theory.
MAIN BODY
Along with other skills needed in personal and professional life, it is also required to
possess ability to manage the conflicts (Bradley and et. al., 2013, January). These resolution
skills can be developed by applying negotiation or conflict resolution theories. In interpersonal
conflicts can arise in any sphere either be from organisation or through personal relationships.
There are different conflict resolution theories that can be used to deal with these issues.
However, it should be recognised that the selection of these theories is on the basis of behaviour
and perception of people (Kim, R2017). In context to my life experiences regarding the present
case, there are two major issues which I had faced. Further, I have used different tactics to deal
with them. The conflict theory applied on them are based on the harms they were causing with
their existence. One of them belongs to my personal life and the other one is related to the
workplace. In context to the personal life conflict, I believe that it was more of a subject of harm
to the emotion that raised the issue. Interpersonal conflicts and situation always occurs in
interaction when theirs is incompatibility between goals, scarce resources or opposing view
points. Interpersonal issues can also discussed verbally or non verbally along a continuum
ranging from a nearly imperceptible cold shoulder to very obvious blowout. In this, I have also
analysed that there are various interpersonal signs of conflict like facial expression, body
language, eye contact and miscommunication between individuals are considered as major signs
of conflicts. Further, in personal and professional life, there are many situations have been faced
individuals which has provided major impact productivity of employees within organization. I
my professional I have also analysed various stages through of conflicts like miscommunication,

avoiding of task, improper accomplish of task, not following the schedules are stages of conflicts
in professional life. Other than this, there are also some stages of conflicts has been analysed
which I have faced Stress, non proper communication, lack of emotional stability and lack of
understanding has a created major disputes. I my personal life I have also faced various problems
with parents which has due to emotional instability and different in way of thinking. Further, in
order to resolve these conflicts, the active listening skills have required in every individuals
which supports in analysing ways to resolve the conflicts in personal and professional life (Kim,
2017).
In order to resolve the conflicts at workplace, I have used effective listening skills like pay
attention, developed understanding, asking question and providing suggestion, respond
appropriately with the employees or member between group. I have faced these conflicts'
situation when I was working as a project officer in international IT organization. The problems
which I have faced was improper communication of superiors and there was no authority has
been provided to employees which has created major conflicts between employees and manager.
Further, in order to resolve this conflict situation I have also applied various solution like
acceptance, avoidance, negotiation, resolution and listening to others. Negotiation is the most
effective solution which we have applied in organization resolve problems between management
and employees for appropriate delegation of authority with responsibility. Moreover, an
individual can also face various problems in managing its emotions at workplace and it also
requires potential and motivation should be provided firms to employees in order to make them
comfortable at workplace. Assertiveness is considered as ability which is also required within
individuals which enable him stand up for personal rights by expressing thought feelings and
beliefs in direct, honest and appropriate ways. n order to resolve the conflicts at workplace, I
have used effective listening skills like pay attention, developed understanding, asking question
and providing suggestion, respond appropriately with the employees or member between group.
In professional experience, I have also developed these skills to face challenges and responded
effective to the problems at workplace. The literature has also provided an understanding that
individuals to various effective skills like communication, conceptual and confidence so that
they will perform there job effectively at workplace. In this assignment, I have also used conflict
resolution which can applied in the situation which I have organization. This conflict resolution
model includes various strategies through I have achieved success in business operations. There

conflict resolution problem includes five stages which has been described below such as
competing, collaboration, avoiding, accommodating and compromising. The most effective

the conflicts is also considered as major elements to resolve the conflicts in personal and
professional life. For example: in order to reduce the influence of third party on employee,
organization will avoid the problems and also posses that they are not facing any difficulty at
workplace. Further, in order resolve the conflicts, I have also needs to manage the task and face
difficulties at workplace which have been faced problems in managing the task and resolution of
effective problems within organization. Apart from this The resolution of conflicts in the
workplace typically involves recognition by the parties involved that a problem exists and
agreement to address the issue and find some resolution. Other than this I have also faced various
efforts to understand the perspective and concerns of the opposing individual or group and
Identification of changes in attitude, behaviour, and approaches to work by both sides that will
lessen negative feelings. Moreover, recognizing triggers to episodes of conflict (Bradley and et.
al.,2013). These major Interventions by third parties such as Human Resources representatives or
higher level managers to mediate. There is also of Willingness by one or both parties to
compromise. Agreement on a plan to address differences. Monitoring the impact of any
agreements for change. Disciplining or terminating employees who resist efforts to defuse
conflicts. From this, I have also realized that there are various communication and interpersonal
skills have been required to demonstrate an understanding of various challenges that needs to be

With effective communication, understanding and coordination , individuals can also resolve the
problems and develop effective relationship with superiors and family. Further, accommodating
is also considered as important elements conflict resolve theory in which the manager of
organization will fulfil needs of employees to resolve there conflicts at workplace.
