LO1 Evaluate different types of construction information in the context of
diverse project types.
(a) Explain the use of construction information in the context of the given
project.
In construction, large amount of complicated information is produced. So, there is need to
manage that crucial and complicated information produced. The management task includes
accuracy and availability. If the information is inappropriate or incomplete then this can lead to
various consequences as projects related to construction can be delayed, failure in achieving that
particular goal in terms of construction, etc. If the requirements and information is derived and
properly managed then suppliers could be determined or schedules related to construction can be
arranged. The construction information is dependent on project designing with its control. The
construction information is important so that work environments could be made as collaborative.
In that working environment, many data files could be shared, decisions could be traced, and
communication in various aspects. The wrong conclusion could be drawn if construction
information is not accurate. For the successful installation of system, the construction
information is required.
The construction information is required. As every client needs to go through it. The contractor
and designer also need to go through the information. If there are more members for one project
then in that principal designer should explain construction related information to other designers
and contractors. It also includes regulations related to construction industry. Rules and regulation
related to construction industry should be known to every member working with construction of
5 stored office building. The pre-construction information includes information as per the client
possession and all risks involved in it (Designingbuildings.co.uk. ,2019).
It mainly includes all information related to project as its full description and additional
information related to project. It also includes the starting date of that construction project with
estimated date of completion of that particular construction project. All the details related to
members should be there with every member dealing in project. It also includes all details related
to construction (Designingbuildings.co.uk. ,2019).
It also includes all planning and management related information. It includes all security, site
transport, and hoarding, confined spaces, etc.
It also includes all measures of safety at construction time for all laborers. It includes all existing
structures and services, parking restrictions, smoking restrictions, all requires boundaries for the
site of construction, precaution related to fire, etc.
It also includes health hazards as Asbestos required in construction should be used in small
amount as it is not good for health (Brayton P. ,2015). It also includes all grounding conditions,
restrictions related to collection of waste. It also includes safety and health file.

(b) Describe the different types of construction information and their uses. What
type of construction information will you use for the current scenario and
justify their use?
In 2015, Construction Regulations related to management and designing predefines that all
clients in construction activity should be given all information related to all designers,
contractors and mangers. There are different types of construction information which are as
follows:
1. Project related Information:
a. Description related to project: It includes all task related to project. All information
related to different tasks should be described here. Every information related to every
plan made should be described here.
b. Dates related to project: It includes all dates from start of the project till estimated
end of that particular project. These key dates are determined at the time of tender
age.
c. Construction details related to project: It includes all description related to
different objects such as office building, different offices in that building, drawing
related to project. The contact details should be circulated to all team members who
are participating in project.
d. Geographical related information: The information related to geographical
locations should be circulated to every member in team.
e. Arrangements related to project: It includes all arrangements related to different
tasks in the project.
2. Management and Planning related information: It include all activities related to
management and planning related to project tasks. All communication related protocols
should be circulated. All parameters related to access at time of construction should be
known to every team member so that planning could be started accordingly. It also
includes hoarding information which includes temporary structure of that building
(Designingbuildings.co.uk. ,2017). It also includes other information about different
activities as transport related information. It also includes all restrictions information with
all procedures related to emergency.
3. Information related to Hazards while constructing Office building: It includes all
Hazards related to health and safety. Asbestos will be used in fewer proportions as it is
not good for health (Health.gov.au. ,2013). All information regarding storage and
contaminated land are included in pre-construction information. Safety-related hazards all
information related to boundaries, waste, conditions of ground.
4. Pre-information related to safety and health file: It includes the description and
condition related to safety and health file. All information which is pre-gathered in this
file is included.

LO4 Assess ways in which construction professionals collaborate in the
production of construction information.
(a)Assess the types of information produced by different participants in a
construction project Using the current project as a case study.
There are different participants which are explained below. The information given here is
according to case study prescribed. The information with different participants is as follows:
1. Client: The client is a major member in construction process. Without client there would
be no construction project. They identify their crucial requirements. And according to
this, the project is planned. The initiation of construction project is because of client.
They indirectly or directly control and see the whole process. They also check the
progress. They monitor different aspects as cost, time, quality, etc. After this,
maintenance is in hands of client.
2. Consultant office or team of designers for the construction project
i. Architect: The functions which are performed by Architects are as follows:
o The architect views requirements and makes designs according to the requirements
specified.
o Design includes various aspects as structure, functioning, proportions, appearance, and
economy of that product.
o The brief is made according to client requirements. The design is made according to
different conditions as conditions on site, different obligations, cost, etc.
o The architect also specifies the materials which would be used as per design.
o It also informs the client about the status of all construction tasks and activities.
o Supervises all laborers on site as specific to the design of that project.
ii. Structural Engineer: He/ She advises architects about different problems related to
structure. He/ she submits all calculations related to the structure to locality authority
for the approval of that particular structure. It takes authority for structural design and
manages this on construction site.
iii. Service Engineers: It includes all services related to the construction of the project. It
includes all the activities as ventilating, electrical, heating, plumbing, air
conditioning, etc. These activities are designed according to client requirements.
iv. Quality Surveyor: It controls all financial activities on the site of construction. It
designs all plans related to cost with monitoring these financial tasks.
3. Contractor: The contractor views all activities at site of construction. Their primary task
is to make and organize all possible resources related to manufacturing. It sees all
activities from the commencement of project till end of project. It performs various
crucial functions which are as follows:
o Investing whole site
o Planning all task with reprogramming them if not accomplished

o Controlling all laborers and employees under them (UKEssays,2018).
o Notifying all crucial information to architects
o Paying the salaries or wages to employees or laborers.
(b) Examine the relationship between different bodies of information and how they
work in conjunction.
In construction project, different members in team work with coordination to make a successful
project. It includes all activities from the commencement of the project till the completion of the
project. It starts from gathering requirements, designing according to requirements and
implementation, evaluation at different stages and in the last termination of that project.
Here the initiator of the project is a client as without client there would be no project. The
requirements are identified by the client and according to that construction activity commences.
In last, there is a contractor who constructs the office building according to given scenario and
requirements. The construction activity is complex and includes various requirements.
Firstly, the client identifies the requirements with the commencement of that project. After that
architect build designs according to the requirements specified by client. It also makes designs
according to different protocols and obligations. It also makes team for different participants as
Structural engineer, service engineer and quantity surveyor. The information related to
production is transferred to contractor. He/ She also asses the limits of costs prescribed by client
and according to that various material are specified. They also tell client about the status of
construction project.
The structural engineer also views all structural problems and tells about these problems to the
architect. The design is done according to structural problems defined. The design is also made
according to different services with the requirements of the client. The services could be as
heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, electrical, etc.
The Quantity surveyor will see all activities related to financial. The cost plan is prepared and
according to different designs are made.
The contractor builds the construction according to the design specified. It monitors all activities
related to construction. It also notifies designers and client about their requirements at the time of
construction (Ukessays.com. ,2018).

(c)Compare the roles of CAD and BIM in the collaborative production of
construction information.
Auto CAD (Computer – aided design) is used to design different components and parts. It can
create various modes as 2D and 3D. These are generally used by industries to make complicated
designs. This can be built in both formats like 2D and 3D.
The BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a tool for designing and making buildings. The
decisions taken should be analyzed and visualized.
CAD (Computer-aided design) BIM (Building Information Modelling)
Through this documentation and designing
could be done. Here CAD files are utilized for
the project. This is generally used when there
are multiple components. Here complex
products could be designed because of 3-D
Modelling.
This is one of the new processes through
which building can be designed. Through this,
the design can be analyzed and visualized. It
allows digital representation for all facilities
such as roofs, windows, walls, etc.
This is generally used for industrial design for
electrical and mechanical aspect. It includes
the construction of airplanes or mobile
phones.
This is generally used for the construction of
designs for commercial buildings, offices, etc.
It also includes various other important
information.
This has a very high detailed representation. They are generally designed for the plasticity.
It is generally used by designers to make
complicated designers where we need to
accompany multiple components into one.
It is generally used by all designers to
construct the design of buildings (Bandi,
2018).
