LO1 Evaluate different types of construction information in the context of diverse
project types.
TASK1
P1 Explain the use of construction information in the context of the given project.
Information in construction: -
The information associated with the construction information includes all the documents
required to proceed with the construction work. this includes raw material’s details, process
plan, list of details of all stakeholders of the project, details of location, details of construction
drawing, details of map of construction, etc. the construction information helps the
stakeholders and the workers to keep check on the ongoing work and what step or process to
be followed next to proceed further and also planning and working according to the
information provided by the contractor and engineer leads to efficient working with decrease
in wastage of raw materials and capital as well (Ruixian, 2016).
It is up to the project manager for the hiring of an engineer, supervisor, and contractor, etc
and also planes, supervise and setting a budget for the project that includes everything
according to the requirement of the client. Developing construction information is an easy
way to organize construction processes. The construction information like the bill of material
keeps the update of materials involved in the construction and in what quantity so that the
estimate of the amount can be calculated. The construction process can be very difficult
without the bill of material and other construction information. As if the material to be used is
determined in the meantime then it will be difficult for the construction process. Construction
information is also necessary for the safety of every single person associated with the
construction work as the information contains the type of hazards that can harm people and
the precaution to be taken to overcome the hazards. It also contains the rule and regulation
that are to be adopted by the workers and other in order to perform a particular task as per the
norms of construction (Lee, Park and Song, 2018).
Some other regulations for construction information to be given are as follows: -
1) Project description
Document Page
2) Details of contact of the project
3) Key dates
4) Arrangement of project
5) Current information’s extent
6) Safety
a) Access and boundaries
b) Deliveries and restrictions, storage and waste collection
c) Usage of excessive land
d) Condition of ground
e) Equipment and plant related issues
f) Design and construction information requirement
There are various construction information services that that can be provided tools and
application that can be used to plan information by keeping in mind all the aspects of
construction work. everything to be updated in the sheet.
P2 Describe the different types of construction information and their uses. What type of
construction information will you use for the current scenario and justify their use?
Construction information and specification
The contract of construction has to be detailed as much as possible so that everything will
be clear and as per the instruction to avoid clashes between various stakeholders. It is
required to ensure the proper working of the construction project and work as per the demand
of the client. And to achieve this there is a simple that can be performed to get this done that
is specification part of the contract. Here a customer can be very specific and tell their
requirement and according to this the engineer and contractor decide how it can be done and
prepare the instructions to be followed further (Kubba, 2017).
There are generally three types of specification present in the contract and are as follows: -
1) Proprietary specification
2) Prescriptive specification

3) Performance specification
Proprietary specification: - it is the rarest kind of specification which is related to the
specific type of material that is required to be installed. This type of specification is used
rarely in at the time of renovation and when the customer demanded an improvement in
the already completed part.
Prescriptive specification: - this type of specification involves step by step instruction
details on using a different type of materials for using in the system and method for the
desired installation. It is further categorized into three subgroups: -
1) Required Products: -list of various products that are based on the structural and
performance requirements.
2) Execution procedure: -installation methods details and how quality is measured with
effectiveness.
3) General provision: -this refers to state building codes and national building notation
that should be in the compilation.
Performance specification: - these are the specification that includes the operation involved
in the construction project to be completed. In place of providing details of instructions for
achieving the final product, it depends on the anticipated result. The leaves the discretion of
large amount till the final outcome is achieved. In other word the performance type of
specification includes provision for testing to ensuring whether the requirements that are
given by the customer are met or not (Goren, 2016).

P6 Evaluate construction drawings and details to identify errors and clashes.
Following are the errors that might occur in the construction work: -
1) Smaller area to sit for the employees
2) A large amount of area wastage.
3) Due to office room being larger in size leads to a small cubical size that is not enough
for the number of employees in the organization.
4) Lifts are not enough
5) Proper ventilation in the building not given.
6) Some specification is missing.
7) Information being inconsistent.
8) Appropriate use of symbols.
9) Facilities are allocated in impractical spaces.
10) Unavailability of stares for emergency exit.
11) Insufficient area for gate opening.
12) Software is less compatible.
13) Spaces are undersized somewhere.
14) Few of the elements that were suggested are difficult to build.

LO4 Assess ways in which construction professionals collaborate in the production of
construction information.
Task 4
P7 Assess the types of information produced by different participants in a construction
project. Using the current project as a case study.
There are various participants that take part in the project od construction: -
1) Architect: -they are an important aspect of the construction project as they provide a
visual representation of how the building will look, what will be involved in it and the
other aspect before the starting of construction work. the architect is hired by the client
itself at the initial stage so that they can work according to the needs of the client without
aesthetics and practicality being affected. After listening to the requirements of the client
the architect start to work on building design of building using their knowledge. An
architect develops various designs from which the best is chosen.
2) Civil engineer: -the construction work cannot be possible without a civil engineer as they
have knowledge of the constructional working and ethics to be followed for the
construction project and the processes involved throughout the construction and how it
can be achieved. They provide suggestion to maintain the practicality of the building and
keep it safe. The civil engineer also provides various information such as material and
equipment details that must be used in the construction project. information like
scheduling of purchases, calculation of complex problems, list of materials and their
deliveries, etc are prepared by the civil engineers.
3) Contractor: - a contractor comes to action as soon as the construction work is about to
begin. Therefore, the contractor is an important stakeholder in the project. the
construction work to get complete requires labors and workers that are arranged by the
contractor. The experienced contractor is the key to the construction project getting over
at the estimated time. The budget of project majorly depends on the worker as the
maximum part of the budget is for the workers. The cost management and the time
management chart prepared by the contractor.
4) Electrician: -the electrician during the construction work going on work with the
contractor to get the knowledge of the required area to have the cable line installation for

the switches and other electrical supply throughout the building. The electrician is also
responsible for the decoration of the house.
5) Plumber: -the plumber work is to determine the pipeline area to be covered throughout
the building and helps in estimating the costing associated with it.
6) Client: -the client is only responsible for the construction project being thought to
prepare. The client as per their business plan tells their requirements and the specification
to be added in the building. All the crucial decisions are to be made in the presence of the
client. The client has the update of everything going on at the construction site.
7) Owner: -the owner manages the project as per their requirements throughout the project
completion. After analyzing of the situations and the other aspect from the different
stakeholders of the project before the starting of the project it is up to the owner, to begin
with, the projector to drop the idea (Pampliega, 2015).
P8 Examine the relationship between different bodies of information and how they
work in conjunction.
Owner: - firstly, the owner plays an important role in the construction project to start as the
owner is the one who decides to build a building for their business purpose or any other
purpose. After the reason for construction is clear in the mind of the owner. He prepares a
business plan by using which the architect and the engineer will prepare the proper
construction drawing and the planning of the processes involved in the construction.
Architect: - An architect defines all the architectural aspect of the building in the
construction drawing prepared by them using their creative skills and architectural
knowledge. They prepare various drawings of a single structure considering all the facts and
figures. And after the mutual discussion of architect, engineer, contractor, and owner the final
design is selected amongst the samples and the work starts according to the drawing.
Civil Engineer: - After the drawing is prepared and selected. The work of a civil engineer
starts. A civil engineer is majorly responsible for the completion of the construction project
after all civil engineer has the knowledge of the materials and the techniques that are to be
used and the process involved throughout the construction project. after this, the civil
engineer hires a contractor that takes the construction project to a start.
