INTRODUCTION
Construction management can be explained as the professional services which provides the
effective management of the project schedule, safety, scope, quality as well as function to the
project owner (Harris and et.al., 2021). It is very important as it enables to bring in the leadership
as well as direction to the projects. This project will discuss the development and
professionalism within the structure as well as linkage between the head office and site office.
Further, the types of the contractual work tendered by the contractors will be discussed.

TASK 1
Development and professionalism of construction industry-
In UK, construction industry is considered as one of the largest contributor to the
economy of the country. As this solely employees 3.1 Million of the people and over 9% of the
employees in the country. It highly depended on the labour intensive business model as this is
becoming unsustainable because of the impacts of the change in the demographic. The New
Infrastructure construction work is another key driver of the overall construction growth after the
emergence of the Covid 19 pandemic as this has expanded by 19.5 % in quarter 1 of the year
2022. It is the fact that the economy as well as the society is underpinned by the construction
industry. It has been found that the construction sector of UK is reaching every corner of the
country because it is very important as every one is investing in the future that is the building
homes, the schools, hospitals, the offices, factories as well as the energy infrastructure which
helps in running of the industry turning (Machado and Vilela, 2020).
The construction industry is setting the ambitious and effective relationship among the
industry as well as the government. The main aim of this is to transform the productivity level of
the sector by adopting the innovative technology as well as talented and skilled employees within
the construction industry. This construction industry has played the significant role in the
achievement of the vision which has been set by the industrial Strategy. The overall construction
sector solely has the turnover of around Euro 370 in the year 2016 which adds Euro 138 billion
to the economy of UK.

TASK 2
Linkage between the site office and head office structure of the organisation-
The construction company's site office will require the office which will facilitate the
accommodation for the site managers, provides the space for meetings as well as to provide the
storage for the site documentation. The number of the facilitates are provided on the construction
site as this provides the adequate and enough welfare for the workers. The facilities which are
included are such as site training and induction facilities, wheel washing facilities, lay down
areas and many more. When there is large projects, separate offices are made for the site
foremen, engineers as well as the commercial and project management team.
The Large construction companies usually has the Board of Directors which steer the
direction of the overall company ans there is CEO who reports to them. There is one executive
team which works very close to the CEO for the development of the strategies for the company
as well as to communicate it to the overall company. They consist of several directors which are
working underneath executives (Patil, 2019). The individual managers runs the actual teams as
there roles are financial managers, accountants, construction managers and many more. There is
support staff as well which is responsible for the legwork, supporting to the managers as well as
the directors of each department. The entry level tier is basically consists of the administrative
assistants, interns as well as the specialists. The main link between these both offices are the sire
offices are highly depended on the head offices for many of the decisions to continue the further
work.
TASK 3
Type of the contractual work tendered by contractors-
Tendering is considered as the process in which the proposal is written by the contractors
to the companies for choosing to accept or give out. There are basically four types of the
contractual work by the contractors are such as-
Residential Building: These buildings are constructed for the purpose of residing in by the
people such as house or apartment.
Institutional and Commercial Building: The main purpose of institutional buildings are for the
public use such as hospitals, schools, police stations and many more. And the commercial

buildings ate those which are build for the main purpose of using them for the business such as
shopping centre and many more.
Specialised Industrial Construction: These buildings are build for purpose of using them to
create the storage as well as the for the product production. For example, warehouses, power
plants and and many more.
Infrastructure And Heavy Construction: These are build for such as dams, transportation links,
bridges and many more.
There are three types of the contracts which are used for these above types of the contractual
work are such as-
Fixed Price Contracts: These contracts are the mutually agreed fixed rate per unit of the output.
Cost Plus Contracts: This enables the companies tom pay the overall costs to the contractor in
one payment at the end of project.
Time and material Contracts: These contracts works which enables the companies to calculate
the costs as well as the profits at the end of the project (Jackson, 2020).
The above are the contractual work and the contracts which are tendered by the contractors for
undertaking any of the biding scheme for supplying the goods and services on offer.
TASK 4
Development of the construction industry in the terms of company's structures, employees and
contracted work-
The structure of the construction company has emerged by seeing the need of the
professionalism and technical within the industry. Basically, the matrix structures are used in the
construction companies as this is the combination of the functional as well as the project forms
of organisation. In this type of the matrix organisation each of the project manager has to report
directly to the general manager or more levels in the case of the large companies. This includes
the Board of the Directors, CEO , contractors less than 50 and the owner of the company. The
structure of the organisation plays the significant role in the construction companies as this
enables them to increase the operational efficiency as well as the encourages the development of
the departmental expertise (Maund, Gajendran and Brewer, 2018).
The construction industry has to perform many of the tasks as this has increased the need
of employment within the industry. The number of the employment within the construction
industry has increased and provided many of the rights to them such as national minimum wage,

workplace pension, statutory Sick pay and many more. It gas been identified that there are
number of contracted work as well as the contractual types for the contractors so for this the need
of the development of construction industry was promoted. As there are various types of the
construction takes place (Lee and Kim, 2018).
TASK 5
Development of structure and business ethos in construction company-
Business ethos very significant role in the construction company as this industry has
become very vast. Companies has to adopt the healthy and safety measures which will enable the
employees to stay happy, safe and comfortable. The company having the strong business ethos
helps them in prevention of the employees as this allows the department of the human resource
for creation for fulfilling the staff needs. This helps the company to keep their employees and
workers motivated and inspired ion the company by speaking directly with the needs of the
employees. The structure is also very important for the construction company as this will enable
them to work effectively as well as helps them in proper functioning of the overall organisation.
The construction industry is becoming very large and due to this reason, its is very important to
have the proper structure of the company which will lead to the successful business (Kim and
Leathem, 2018).
The construction company has to adopt the effective business ethics as this will enable
the employees to stay comfortable by considering the health and safety measures. Incorporating
the business ethics in the construction business will help them in promotion of the integrity
among the employees as well as develop the trust from their overall stakeholders of the
company. This will help the construction company to ensure the moral attitude within the
organisation from the top level to the bottom level.
CONCLUSION
From the above project it can be concluded that it is very important for the construction company
to follow the business ethics within the business. This will help them in ensuring the health and
safety within the company for the employees and this will help them in regulating the behaviour
of the people effectively. This will provide the guidelines for the employees to avoid any of the
mistakes within the organisation. This report has discussed the development of overall

construction industry as well as the link between the head office as well as the site office within
the organisation.
